Campers have to pass a deep end test before being allowed to swim in the deep end of the big pool. Once they pass this test they will be given a bracelet to wear for the duration of their time at camp indicating they are allowed in the deep end. Please allow your camper to wear it for the duration of their stay with us.

They can only if they pass the deep end test administered by the pool’s lifeguards. They will determine which children are prepared to swim in deep water.

The shallow end of the pool is 3 feet deep. Little campers always wear floaters provided by the camp. There is always a certified Lifeguard at the pool in addition to camp staff of at least four counselors all times. It is always best to sign up for all the weeks that your child will be attending ahead of time. This is important so we can staff accordingly. At the same time, we try to remain a little flexible.

Everyone has the opportunity to go swimming each day. We encourage everyone to participate in the swim program which is Red Cross Swimming Lessons. We will attempt to notify parents if their child has not participated in the swim program for more than 2 days. We ask you also encourage your child to try swimming.

An expert explained to me what happens: your outer skin cells will start to soak up water, and that dilutes the effect of the sunless tan. The longer you are in the water, the worse it will be. Using sunless tanners regularly over a period of time will saturate the skin better and the sunless tan will hold up longer in water, but it will still be affected.

If you're imagining a pool with a diving board, the pool will have to be at least 8' deep. Without the board, a pool of 3' to 6' is quite appropriate. The Bodman Pool is set up that the outer most lanes are for the slowest swimming the next two going inward are for the medium swimmers and the center two lanes are for the fastest swimmers. Start in the slowest lanes and work your way in toward the center until you find a lane that has others swimming at the same or similar speed.

Pool swim triathlons have become an important part of the triathlon scene in recent years. Pool swim races allow us to begin the triathlon season earlier than normal, and also allow us to utilize venues that have no open water options. For pool swims, when you register, submit an estimated 100 METER swim time. Then we will seed everyone starting with the fastest swimmer to the slowest based on these swim times. At the race, participants begin the swim in seeded order, one person at a time.

Yes, we set a high standard of health and safety at Balance Health Club. Wearing a swim cap is hygienic and decreases the amount of hair caught in filters, which assists with the pool cleanliness.

Members are invited and welcome on the pool deck as well as in the baby pool during swim practice (9:00 AM to 12:00 noon weekdays); however, because the pool is full during swim practice, members are not permitted in the main pool. A few evenings a week, there is a stroke clinic for the swim team. During that time, only part of the pool is used and the remaining part is available to the Club members.
