Also granularity for bandwidth settings is from 6kbit to 12kbit depending on size of network packets so in managing low-speed connection bandwidth it is not possible to be sharp.

If you are experiencing problems seeing other MessagePal users in your 'User' list, it may be that there is a firewall or other device blocking the required port between the two computers. We provide some information here that may help your systems administrator in opening the correct firewall ports. For security reasons, MessagePal will not communicate with users via the Internet. This problem is solved in recent Cygwin/X releases. Use cygwin setup to upgrade the xorg-x11-xwin package. The older X11 releases on the various commercial unices define the AltGr key as ModeSwitch, MetaR, AltR or similar. Cygwin/X expects it to be ISO_Level3_Switch. For reasons unknown to us this is reset when loggin into the remote host. As far as we don't have access to such a machine we are unable to track this down and find a reason.

CPC software runs in the Command window of Windows NT, XP, and Win2000. This Command window (often referred to as a DOS window) is, by default, setup with "QuickEdit Mode" selected.
