Stripe Snoop :: FAQ
The parallel port adapter is very generic, and will convert all 4 input pins of the game port into inputs on the parallel port. We only need to a buffer chip that has 4 inputs/outputs. Both the 74541 Octal Buffer and the 74367 Hex buffer will work. I used an Octal buffer because its what Jameco had at the time. Sometimes you can find these chips at Radioshack. Note: Sometimes there will be letters in the chip name, usually between the 74 and the rest.

The parallel port setting can affect the communication between the film drive and the computer. You should not make changes to your parallel port mode unless all other options to solve communication issues have been exhausted. (You can safely get a general idea of what your port setting is by accessing the Device Manager and checking the Ports setting.

Whenever using the serial or parallel port, you should always use the AC adapter. These ports require about as much power as the Portfolio and will quickly drain the batteries.
Most new computers come with USB ports, as well as or instead of Parallel ports. While Parallel ports or "printer ports" have been the standard for a long time, we also offer optional USB port keys with our StenoCAT 32 software. USB port technology is smaller, faster and (most experts will say) more reliable. Pictures and additional info here.

ACT LABS - Product FAQ Answers
No. The serial port and gameport are totally different. Even if you could find a physical adapter they would still not be compatible electronically.
Machines with many processors are much faster than single processors can be. Parallelism itself presents no advantages, and parallel machines are somewhat awkward to program. When extreme speed is required, it is necessary to face this awkwardness.
CSA2 FAQ Complete - A2wiki
This is theoretically possible, but would require a very extensive amount of work. Your best bet is to get a SCSI Zip drive, and connect that to an Apple II SCSI card (see section 4.15 above), and use that. Here's a rundown on the problems with a parallel Zip drive: such a connection requires a bidirectional (2-way communication) parallel card. 95+% of all Apple II parallel cards are unidirectional and won't work, except for the rather rare Apple Profile controller card.
Linux OV511 Driver - Frequently Asked Questions
No. The OV511 chip supports the USB bus only. The CPiA chip is used in many parallel cameras, notably some revisions of the Creative Labs WebCam3 Parallel, and in some USB cameras. You can find drivers for the CPiA here . Surprisingly, the USB version of the WebCam3 uses the OV511, not the CPiA, probably since the OV511 supports higher resolutions and is therefore (arguably) a better chip.
