PipeworkWhich type of pipework should I use?
FAQs - Aquaflow: Pond Filters & EquipmentIn pump fed systems you should always use the largest diameter pipework possible. The larger the pipe the less friction is generated therefore you lose less flow through the pipe. Remember that every elbow and bend reduces the flow rate so these should be kept to a minimum. It is generally advised to use flexible hose and/or solvent weld pipe from the pump to the filter and push-fit pipework from the filter to the pond. See similar questions...
Can you power flush a microbore system?
Kamco Power Flushing&Descaling Pumps, Chemicals&Know...Yes, but connection of the CF30 should be on to the circulator pump fittings, and not on to a radiator, otherwise the small bore tubing will drastically reduce the flow rate, and the system power flush will be less successful than normal. We advise using 5 litres of FX2 (instead of the usual 2.5 litres), to ensure the particles of debris are dispersed in as fine a form as possible. See similar questions...
Can you power flush a microbore system with double entry radiator valves?
Kamco Power Flushing&Descaling Pumps, Chemicals&Know...Yes, but we suggest that you double the amount of FX2 to 5 litres. If the distributor / spreader tube, which directs the incoming water towards the far side of the radiator, has broken away, so that the entrance and exit are effectively only 1/2" apart, any flushing effect on that radiator will be minimal. Conversion to opposing inlet and outlet valves is a better long term proposition. See similar questions...
Q I have microbore pipe work, will cast iron radiators work with this?
Frequently Asked QuestionsA Yes, but with very large cast iron radiators (over 3000 Watts) it can prove problematic on balancing the central heating sytem. Please ask your plumber for advice before installation. A Thermostatic valves control the radiator temperature via a sensor which senses the air temperature in the room. Once the preset temperature has been reached the valve automatically opens and closes the flow of hot water to the radiator to maintain that temperature. See similar questions...

Can you tell if the cold feed on a vented system is blocked, without cutting into the pipework?
Kamco Power Flushing&Descaling Pumps, Chemicals&Know...Not conclusively, but if you cap off the expansion pipe before attempting to drain down the contents of the expansion tank into the Clearflow tank (see the Clearflow instructions), then if water doesn’t run down into the Clearflow tank, there’s a very strong possibility of a blockage. If so, physical therapy will determine your stability with the crutches prior to discharge. See similar questions...
Why use oasis? Why not use a sponge?
Cigar Smoker's FAQThe many holes in oasis material mean a greater effective surface area. This means a smaller humidifier is able to do the same work as a larger one using other materials. Natural sponges are much more prone to contamination and should not be used. Good quality synthetic sponges are a reasonable alternative IMHO (although your credo might need to be a little larger than if you used oasis). See similar questions...
