You can repair the split by using Epoxy Adhesive and clamping it together. The repair will be stronger than the original wood.

Wood does shrink as it dries, but the shrinkage doesn't start until the lumber is below fiber saturation, about 28% moisture content. If the outside surface is below 28% while the center of the board is still above fiber saturation, the outside will try to shrink while the center doesn't- and if this continues, until the surface becomes too dry in relation to the core, the lumber will split or check. In cases of very excessive log movement or application error (applied too thin or too narrow), even Perma-Chink chinking can split. Superficial nicks and scratches that have cut into the finish film, or even cut all the way into the wood underneath, can be camouflaged with color treatment and waxing. Wax sticks in a variety of colors are available from the hardware store. Paste shoe polish applied with a cotton swab can be used to color the exposed wood. There isn't one. All those products that claim to repair split ends? They lie. There's nothing that can be done for a broken piece of hair except to trim it off, and the sooner the better. Some products, such as -cone based anti-frizz treatments, will seal the hair in a coat of silicone.
