What's that knocking noise when LT1 or LS1 is cold?
_2While the fuel injectors have a distinct tapping noise (usually under higher throttle), at a light load and low speed there seems to be "piston slap" on some people's cars. This occurs in some of the Corvette LT1s as well. There doesn't seem to be anything in the service manuals. Most dealers seem to acknowledge the problem and say it's normal, which it seems to be. For some reason, the pistons shrink enough in the cold weather so as to "slap" around a little.
My LS1 car idles rougher than my LT1 car, is this normal?
_2Yes, the LS1 has a different cam, which makes the car have a bit of lope at idle. People have reported that replacing the factory spark plugs with better ones like NGK TR55s and wires smoothened out the idle a bit. See similar questions...
Does the LS1 use reverse-flow cooling like the LT1 did?
_2No. GM Went back to the standard cooling configuration for the LS1. The LT1 cools the heads first while the LS1 cools the heads last. Each system has their advantages and disadvantages. With reverse cooling there is the risk of hot-spots on the cylinder walls. Because of this care should be taken whenever any type of cooling system maintenance is done on an LT1 engine. Why does my Home Bakery sometimes make a knocking noise?
ZojirushiThis may be the result of dough that is too hard and dry. The knocking noise is the result of the hard dough being “thrown” against the sides of the baking pan. Add water or milk one teaspoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball. If the Home Bakery breadmaker continues to make knocking noises, check to be sure that the baking pan is locked in place in the machine. If your Home Bakery breadmaker is old, you may need to replace the lock springs. See similar questions...
My Powerball Is making an annoying knocking noise. How do I stop this?
Powerball Gyroscope for sports and fitness, carpal tunnel, t...Powerball is a finely tuned product which has been designed to run smoothly and quietly at all times of its operation and this knocking noise is certainly out of character with the product. There is one likely cause and we can go through it as follows: Whenever the unit is dropped onto a hard surface it can sometimes cause a knocking noise similar to this. See similar questions...
What is "knocking"?
Knocking is the sound of abnormal fuel combustion. It is caused by abnormal combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder. When a spark initiates combustion in a spark-ignition internal combustion engine, the flame front should fan out from the spark plug and travel across the combustion chamber rapidly and smoothly. My engine is knocking and ping'ing what can I do?
Isuzu Rodeo Trooper Amigo Rodeo Sport frequently asked qesti...If you have a 2000-2004 Isuzu, make sure you only use Denso K16PR-P11 spark plugs. Check the link below to buy them for 6.80/plug (note the dealer charges about 17/plug) The 2000-2004 engines have the GM/delphi "ion sensing" ignition system where the spark plugs are used as a sensor (when they are not firing) to measure the electrical resistance of the gasses in the combustion chamber. Other plugs may cause the ECU to register a code (misfire code: P1340). See similar questions...
What is port knocking?
PORTKNOCKING - A system for stealthy authentication across c...Port knocking is a method by which a remote computer (client) communicates with another computer (server) across closed ports. Information is encoded in the sequence of ports to which the client attempts to connect. The information flows in one direction, from the client to the server. The server does not send any response to the client as receipt of the information. Once encoded into a sequence of port numbers, any information can be sent across closed ports. Is knocking harmful ?
Occasional light knocking or pinging won't harm your engine, and doesn't indicate a need for higher octane. But don't ignore severe knocking. A heavy or persistent knock can lead to engine damage. See similar questions...
How can I get rid of the noise in my system?
Amplifier Frequently Asked QuestionsFirst let us lay some groundwork: audio systems can exhibit "hum" and they can exhibit "buzz," which are two separate situations. To solve the problem, you need to determine whether your system is exhibiting hum or buzz. Sixty(60)-hertz hum (fifty(50) hertz internationally) is a result of having a ground loop in the audio system. This is where there are two or more ground references in the system, and current is flowing from one ground point to another. See similar questions...

Is there a speed limiter on the LS1 cars?
_7For the cars that do not have the GS-C or RS-A tires, then they have a 123 MPH speed limiter. For the people who ordered the performance cars their speed limiters were set to 162 MPH and given the 155 MPH speedometer. There is no known way to bypass the 162 MPH speed limiter. How much horsepower does the LS1 really have?
_2This is an interesting question that has sparked many debates recently. From 1997 up until 2000, the LS1 in the Corvette had an advertised 345 HP. From 1998 up until 2000 the LS1 in the Camaro Z28 and Pontiac Trans Am had an advertised 305 HP, and the horsepower in the Camaro SS and Trans Am WS6 had an advertised 320 HP. It is pretty much believed that the HP ratings on the F-bodies are underrated. See similar questions...
How long is the break in period on my LS1?
_2Although this varies between car to car, and each person you ask can have a different answer, here are some pretty general things to observe when you car is brand new. Try not to do any hard stops - slamming on your brakes when your brakes are new can damage the brakes, cause the pads to "glaze" and lead to premature brake failure When you car hits 500 miles, you should probably change your oil. Most people stick with regular "dino" oil for the first oil change. See similar questions...
What weight oil should I use in my LS1?
_2W30 is probably your best bet. If you live anywhere other than places where it constantly gets above 95 degrees F then you'll want to use 5W30. For people who live in hot climates, go ahead and try 10W30, however I would not use 10W40 or higher. This was an error in the 1998 manuals. An addendum was sent to the original owners of these cars, but over time, this may have been lost. The correct AC Delco oil filter is the PF44. See similar questions...
