No. Unfortunately, this is not permitted. If you want to watch DVDs or tapes in your room, you will have to bring your own television to which to hook up your media equipment, or watch on your computer screen. In addition, we hope to have some media rooms or areas where you can gather and play your tapes or DVDs; stay tuned for more information.

It's generally not a good idea to route the video from your DVD player through your VCR. Most movies use Macrovision protection, which will cause problems such as a repeated darkening and lightening of the picture. See 1.11 and the Video RF section of 3.2 and for more info.

It depends on your audio/video system and your DVD player. Most DVD players have 2 or 3 video hookup options and 3 audio hookup options. Choose the option with the best quality (indicated below) that is supported by your video and audio systems. Progressive video (very best): Playeres have been announced (but not released) with progressive-scan YUV component video output in the form of 3 BNC or RCA connectors.

Long answer: The minimum requirement for reproducing audio and video on DVD is an MPEG video stream and a PCM audio track. (Other streams such as Dolby Digital audio, MPEG audio, and subpicture are not necessary for the simplest case.) Basic DVD control codes are also needed. At the moment it's difficult in real time to encode the video and audio, combine them with DVD-V info, and write the whole thing to DVD. Even if you could do all this in a home recorder, it would be extremely expensive.

Simply connect your coaxial cable into the HUSKYvision faceplate (the faceplate with only one coax connection) and the input jack on your cable-ready TV or VCR. Coaxial cables are available at the UConn Coop. If you have a VCR, connect your coaxial cable from the cable INPUT to the HUSKYvision faceplate. Then connect the OUTPUT jack from your VCR to the INPUT jack on your TV.

Our Minnie 24' has a TV, VCR, CD, and radio. Our Yellowstone 31' has a TV, VCR, DVD, CD, audio cassette, and radio. The generator must be running or you need to be hooked up to an electricity supply in order for the TV, VCR, and DVD to work. However, the stereo system works from the battery.
