The decision whether a digital print will be suitable for portraiture will be dependent upon the print itself, and will be made on a case-by-case basis. Most digital cameras have proprietary file formats. If your camera outputs jpg, you can send the picture. If not, you need to open it in an image editing program and save it as a jpg file.

If you have access to a scanner, scan your photo at 300 dpi and save it as a .jpg or .tif file. Then you can e-mail the file to us. We accept a wide variety of digital and non-digital formats. We prefer digital since they can be processed more quickly. The digital file format is best determined by content of your design and program which generated it, and are discussed in more detail below.

I have done some searching in books and on the internet about the topic. The earliest portrait that we know about was probably painted some 1,700 years ago, during the 3rd or 4th century AD.
