The symptoms of Scotopic Sensitivity cluster under five different major areas, including light sensitivity, inadequate background accommodation, poor print resolution, restricted span of recognition, and lack of sustained attention. Most individuals who have been diagnosed with this disorder have some of the symptoms in at least one or two of these five major areas.

Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome has been defined as a visual perceptual problem and difficulty in processing the full spectrum of light. It occurs not only when someone is reading but could have profound effects on the various ways in which people interact with their world. For example, sports performance, music performance, and driving are all potential areas of problems for individuals who have Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome.

It has been estimated that in the general population approximately 15% of individuals have Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome in some form or another. Of the individuals who have been diagnosed as having a Learning Disability of some form, 50% are said to also have Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome or just misdiagnosed Learning Disability.

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a condition suffered buy one in five people. The symptoms of IBS can be mild, but more severe symptoms can limit your ability to function normally. Abdominal pain after eating and irregular bowel habits are the most common symptoms. Treatments are designed to relieve the symptoms and a colon cleanse can help during periods of constipation.

Although there may be no detectable symptoms of the immune response to gluten, the typical symptoms people develop occur when the reaction begins to damage the intestines. The symptoms, resulting from malabsorption or improper digestion of dietary nutrients, include abdominal bloating or pain, diarrhea, constipation, gaseousness, or nausea with or without vomiting. It appears that acid reflux in the esophagus, manifesting as heartburn, may be a potential symptom as well.

The core signs and symptoms include excessive unrelenting fatigue and weakness, general body pain, mental brain fogginess, stomach and intestinal problems.

Carcinoid syndrome requires one or more of the following for laboratory confirmation of the diagnosis: increased blood serotonin with decreased blood tryptophan, increased chromogranin A and increased urine 5HIAA or indole-3-acetic acid . In spite of the symptoms, if these criteria are not present, carcinoid syndrome is not the diagnosis.

Each individual may experience symptoms differently. Besides high fluid pressure in the skull, which occurs in about 10 percent of patients, another symptom is a chronically runny nose. The symptoms of empty sella syndrome may resemble other conditions or medical problems. Consult a physician for diagnosis.

Stevens Johnson Syndrome usually affects the mucous membranes of the nostrils, eye and oral cavity and both the anal and genital regions. It may or may not be associated with skin lesions elsewhere on the body. Lesions on the mouth may be so intolerable as to prevent eating, and there may be recurring oral ulcers. Often, the skin lesions may look like a target-lesion (3 concentric zones of color change) or as bullae (bubble-like).

The individual symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome are not very characteristic, however, when looked at collectively they build an almost typical disease picture. In the foreground is a constant alternation between stomach aches and stomach cramps, irregular bowel movements, flatulence, as well as the feeling as if the stomach is severely blown up and taut. Pain can occur in different locations of the stomach and are often hard to locate. Even the bowel movement itself is often painful.

The official diagnostic criterion of the Center for Disease Control is listed separately from Fibromyalgia. This disease is very similar to Fibromyalgia, but pain is a less prominent symptom. Put simply, if you are unusually tired or exhausted out of proportion but cannot sleep or wake un-refreshed from your sleep, you probably have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Symptoms usually start gradually, with frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers. Some carpal tunnel sufferers say their fingers feel useless and swollen, even though little or no swelling is apparent. The symptoms often first appear in one or both hands during the night, since many people sleep with flexed wrists.

Although most symptoms related to the lower gastrointestinal system are experienced by all Irritable Bowel Syndrome patients, some experience predominantly excessive diarrhea, or excessive constipation. The symptoms related to the upper gastrointestinal tract are not experienced by all patients; however they are prevalent in a considerable number of cases.

Typically, Reye syndrome occurs when a person is beginning to recover from a viral illness. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, lethargy, and indifference. The child may exhibit irrational behavior, delirium, aggressiveness, or rapid breathing. Fever is not usually present. The course and severity of the illness vary. Reye syndrome can be mild and self-limited, or it can progress rapidly, causing death within hours of onset, usually from brain swelling. The progression may also stop at any stage.

Symptoms of dry eye syndrome include itching, burning, irritation, redness, excessive tearing, and blurred vision that improves with blinking. Patients with dry eye syndrome also frequently experience increased discomfort after reading, watching TV, or working on a computer.

Sensitivity refers to the response of a piezoelectric material to an applied electrical or mechanical stimulus. The dij and gij constants represent sensitivity. dij is the charge constant, which represents strain per applied electric field (m/V) or polarization per applied stress (C/N) gij is the voltage constant, which represents the electric field produced by an applied stress (Vm/N) or the strain produced by electric displacement (m2/C).

Some people are sensitive to sulfites, preservatives found in wine, beer and some prepared foods, especially dried fruits. Reactions in a small number of people include severe asthma attacks and breathing difficulties. Sulfite sensitivity, however, is not considered an allergy.
