Are you really a "no-kill" shelter?

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we are! We are limited by county regulations to a maximum of 65 cats and kittens at any one time at Safe Haven. However, we have about another 50 cats, kittens, and/or dogs in foster care with our hard-working volunteer foster "parents." It is painful for us to have to turn away animals in need, which is one reason we have an aggressive spay/neuter program in our county.

Why do some of your animals say they are in a high kill shelter?

Furry Friends Network Online
Furry Friends gives considerable help to a few shelters in West Virginia. There is a massive overpopulation problem in that area, so we often respond to their pleas for help. One shelter is an outdoor only facility, while another shelter uses a gas chamber to euthanize animals when the shelter gets too crowded. By placing these animals on our website, we are able to make people aware of these animals and have facilitated adoptions to homes all over the country.
