How do I know which kind of descriptor to use?
Descriptors FAQThis flowchart may help. It's taken from my book, Symbian OS Explained (page 76), with some modification:
What is a descriptor?
OpenVMS FAQ -&- page 15A descriptor is a data structure that describes a string or an array. Each descriptor contains information that describes the type of the data being referenced, the size of the data, and the address of the data. It also includes a description of the storage used for the data, typically static or dynamic. Descriptors are passed by reference.
Can I use other descriptor types as function parameters?
Descriptors FAQYes you can, but don't. For example you could specify your function requiring a parameter passed a TBuf<10>&. But what if the caller has got a TPtrC, or an HBufC, or even a TBuf<11>? This means that they won't be able to call your function without some extra hassle to fit in with exactly what you have specified. TDes and TDesC are the most general types you can use for your function parameters. Oh how much pain has this one caused? Missing out that little & symbol makes all the difference.

PNTA | FAQsVinyl acrylic paint (Off Broadway) is used right out of the can which makes it easy to use. It’s especially good if you're working with K-12 students. It will adhere to almost any surface, colors are intermixable and white-white is used to “white out” other colors. Supersaturated Roscopaint is versatile. It can be diluted substantially (1:3-20 parts water) without losing its binder strength which makes it a good choice for watercolor effects, layering and translucent washes.

What kind of fertilizer should I use, and how often should I fertilize?
PAPHIOPEDILUM: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)This is a tough one to answer, because fertilization is so tremendously tied to water quality, potting medium, temperature, light and a variety of other factors. However, if you just have a few plants, and don't want to fuss around a lot learning about the intricacies of water and fertilizer, I'd simply suggest you get any reasonably balanced 'orchid' fertilizer, that is low in urea, and use it at approximately 1/4 to1/2 the label strength every other watering.
