A scenario is the Trainz version of Microsoft Train Simulator's "activity." Both are a set of tasks for you, the engineer, to complete. In use, the instructions are displayable while driving. It's possible to create your own activity or scenario; both are somewhat involved. MSTS has a built-in activity function, whereas Trainz requires some knowledge of scripting. Scenario Games go beyond the usual "Capture the Flag" or "Elimination" type of paintball by adding complex role playing and a theme or plot to be fulfilled. The scenario (theme or plot) is usually an historical or fictional situation populated by various characters who will compete in the pursuit of a common objective.

I originally wrote this FAQ for one simple reason: no one else had written one. I have been playing scenario games long enough that I think I understand most of what happens in them. Also, the teams I play on specialize in playing scenario games almost exclusively. However, I make no claim to being any more than an average player myself. It can vary greatly, depending on the nature of the scenario and the capabilities of the facilities being used. Most scenarios unfold over 8, 12 or 24 hours of continuous play. For 8 or 12 hour games there will likely be a midday break in the action on the field to get a preliminary score and to have everyone go through the chronograph again for afternoon play. 24 hour games will usually run from noon Saturday to noon Sunday.

The objective of a Scenario Game is to outscore the opposition by the effective completion of a maximum number of assigned missions. Winning a Scenario Game depends largely on staying focused on mission completions.

To edit a scenario, choose Game -> New. In the New Game window, right-click the scenario you want to edit. A menu pops up with Play, Edit, Copy, Rename, and Delete. Choose Edit to bring up the custom scenario window with that scenario loaded into it. Pressing Save & Close will save any changes on top of the scenario. To change a scenario without losing the original, use the Copy option first.

A Scenario game is a game that follows some sort of story line or theme on a very large field. Usually our scenarios run for two days and a night. We have broken our big games into three basic types. I want to deploy my WAR file through the tomcat manager app because I find that convenient for deploying remotely to my production server. I would prefer not to have to log in to the box and run shell scripts if I can just deploy from the browser on my own machine. I 'undeploy' my app from the list of webapps and use the 'WAR file to deploy' form below the list to deploy my war file. This works fine and deploys my updated app into the continuously running tomcat which is neat and simple.

Today’s average recreational paintball game has been reduced to some variation of either elimination or capture the flag.
