Circuitry in the video camera automatically color corrects, but the process is not 'perfect'. Sometimes film scenes change frequently from indoor to outdoor and from bright to dark - so this can confuse the electronics. For this reason a technician watches your transfer and further adjusts the colors and brightness as required. Overall, however, we are very pleased with the color and tones that result in the transfer process.

Yes. If you have not yet finished calibration, use the demonstration page of the calibration wizard to print examples. Otherwise, enable the "include uncorrected image" checkbox in the Page Setup dialog on the File menu in order to print both the color corrected image as well as the original uncorrected image. To get a rough idea of the correction, select the View Corrected and Uncorrected Images option in the View menu.

Yes, but color negative film is recommended because of the wide latitude of results you'll get with this 'precision' instrument. In other words, negatives will help compensate for bad exposures by the camera. You can shoot color transparencies, but you will be restricted to shooting in optimal light conditions that match ISO of the film.

The color of the window film you select is largely a matter of personal preference and makes little or no difference in energy use or savings. The amount of solar energy that passes through window film depends largely upon the density of the film color. Bear in mind, however, that the more dense or reflective the film, the darker your home's interior will be.

We transfer all formats of film (8mm, S-8mm, 16mm, S-16mm, 9.5mm, and 35mm), both negative and reversal.

Videos can be added to a film, in between a batch of photographs. We receive many requests for this and it does make a film more interesting. We do charge $10 for each video segment added (each 5 minutes of video is considered one video segment).

The rates for showing film and video are the same for any other art form if the work is shown in an exhibition context. This is why there is no separate category for film and video in the Exhibitions section. For projection of a film or video in a non-exhibition setting, use A.2.2.2. in the Reproductions section of the Fee Schedule.
