The original Xbox Hard drives are 'locked' this means that there has been a password put onto that hard drive, and onto that Xbox so that only that Xbox can run that Hard Drive. When an un-modded Xbox starts it will look for this 'lock' code on the hard drive. If there is no hard drive, or the hard drive does not have that 'lock' code on it, then the Xbox will not boot.

The drive has an internal problem which is commonly known as "lost servo". Shut down your computer, remove the drive and send it to a professional data recovery company. Powering the drive off and on can only do more damage.

The HDLoader software formats the hard disk in Sony's APA file system the first time you use the drive.

Hard Drives store data used by the rest of the computer. When a hard drive needs to read or write something its controller receives a request from the motherboard. The controller then coordinates the actuator to move the heads that read data from the platters. Once the heads read data from the platters, the data is sent to the buffers. From the buffers the data is sent to the computer to be processed.

The drive may have suffered a severe head crash and the data may not be recoverable. Do not keep powering the drive on and off. You are only doing more damage. Send it to a data recovery company with clean room capability No this is never an option. If you are unwilling or unable to pay for data recovery then just start over.

Windows: By default, the preferences are stored in HKCU/Software/BitWise Chat/BitWise. It is best to have your OS on a separate partition than the rest of your data. This results in less fragmentation and ensures speedy operation of your system. If your hard drive is large enough, then partitioning is probably a good idea for you. Common practice is to have at least three partitions: one ~8GB for the OS, one ~10GB for Documents and other personal files, and whatever is left for programs.

To prevent loss of information from a drive failure, every Kaleidescape Server uses RAID-K to store redundant information. The 3U Server also features a Hot Spare Disk Cartridge as an additional measure of data protection.

When a hard disk drive fails in a Kaleidescape System, you will still be able to enjoy all the Movies and Music in your library, but the System will not be able to import CDs or DVDs. Your Kaleidescape System will also be vulnerable to losing data from a second disk drive failure, until the first failed disk drive has been replaced and the data on it rebuilt. If you suspect that a disk drive has failed, then always call Kaleidescape Technical Support first.

You have likely created the image on the FAT32 file system which has a 4Gb file size limitation. Therefore larger files can not be created there. If this is the case, we would suggest that you either use NTFS (through network or attaching the drive to a Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 box if you are running Windows 9x/ME) or split your drive into regions each less than 4Gb, create their images and make virtual volume set afterwards if you need to recover files from there.
