Look at http://www.perl.com/ to find out. If it is not the latest released version, get that one and see whether your bug has been fixed. Note that bug reports about old versions of Perl, especially those prior to the 5.0 release, are less likely to be incorporated into the source as Perl1 through Perl4 are largely unmaintained.

With an up to date perl installation one may query the local perl setup and all extensions via the command: perldoc perllocal For the Tk extension: version numbering has changed recently and determining the version of Perl/Tk that you are running now depends on what version you are running: Tk-b10 (and higher) has changed to $Tk::VERSION (rather than the older "$Tk:Version") to be consistent with other packages.

If you share your system with other users, it is recommended that the system administrator installs Perl to make it available for everyone. If you whish you can also install your own version in one of your local directories (it requires about 15 MB of space).

Answer. Just click the "Check for Updates" button on the Menu line. A dialog box will advise you if an upgrade is available for download. Upgrades within a given product are free.

To find out what version of the software you are running log into the software as the organiser. Across the top of the screen you will see the words File, Tipper, Organiser and Help. Click on Help, then choose About. The about screen shows you which version you are running. The 2004 edition of the 1003.1 standard was published on April 30th 2004, and updates the 2001 edition of the standard to include Technical Corrigendum 1 (TC1) and Technical Corrigendum 2 (TC2). This is stable and well tested software, it changes if major security or usability fixes are incorporated. This is where packages that will be released as the next 'stable' are placed; they've had some testing in unstable but they may not be completely fit for release yet.
