Each turf farm cuts turf rolls/slabs in different sizes. Clifton Park Turf Supplies cuts rolls which are half a square metre. The approximate weight is 10 kg per roll. Approximately 35-40 sq m of each turf variety will fit into a normal sized (6x4) box trailer.

Yes, if you get it installed quickly and water promptly. After the color turns a deep yellow it will probably have to produce new blade growth to get green again. The important thing to watch is the root growth. Sod will produce root growth even if the top is not green. Watch very tiny, thin, fuzzy white shoots to indicate the sod is growing. In the summer months, you should see this growth within 3 to 5 days with proper water.

On a hot day, freshly cut green sod will begin to yellow very quickly in the pallet due to the heat. After the first day it will turn a pale yellow, and turn deeper yellow the longer it stays in the pallet. In the hottest months of the summer sod should not be left on the pallet over two days. In cooler weather the sod will last longer. In the winter months, when the sod is cut dormant, it will last up to a couple of weeks.

In the winter it can wait a few days, but the sooner it is laid the better. A few tips to keeping sod....place pallets in shade if you cannot lay them right away. Never put water on the pallets, this will cause the sod to attract heat more and burn the sod, killing it almost instantly.

Sod is a living plant that should be installed between 24 to 48 hours after it is harvested. The best indication of freshness is soil that is moist and grass blades that are dark green and cool to the touch. Sod needs to be installed immediately upon delivery. Same day installation is vital to the success of your new lawn! Sod is perishable and will begin to degrade quickly if left on the pallet. As temperatures increase, the sod's pallet life decreases.
