In the latest versions of this extension, direct access to CD-ROMs was disabled, and now MagicEngine can not read PC-Engine CDs anymore. Under Mac OS 8 or 9 it's possible to install an older version of this extension to make CD emulation possible again, but it does not work in OS X.
