No. The host gun club typically has the ammunition you will need. If you are a beginner and would like to bring your own ammunition, stick with target loads and shot sizes of 7.5, 8, or 9 and try to avoid brands advertising "Hi-Velocity" or "Super Handicap" since these shells often cause excessive recoil.

Ammunition choice is dependant on the shooters intended use of the pistol. A wide variety of bullet styles, weights and performance are available. We suggest that you choose a premium factory round (i.e. Federal, Remington, and Winchester) for use in our pistols. Experienced competitors may choose to develop their own personal loads for competition. Our testing process includes the firing of factory ball ammo and hollow point.

You must bring your own gun to class. We suggest you bring the one that you are going to carry or otherwise use to protect yourself, so that you can become familiar with its operation. You must likewise bring your own ammunition. Note: for safety, we require factory ammunition only - no reloads.

Pack like you would for any resort. Cruise vacations are casual by day, whether you are on the ship or ashore. In the evening, ships vary as to dress. As on shore, attire is dictated by occasion. For the Captain's Gala, for example, you'll probably want to wear something more formal, such as a dark suit or cocktail dress; perhaps even a dinner jacket, tuxedo for the men or formal gown for the ladies.

The most important thing for this hunt is good footwear. We highly recommend leather boots that are well broken in as well as high quality hiking socks. This is NOT the trip to break in a new pair of boots or to wear cheap socks. You may be walking a great deal, and blisters on a safari are not fun. An extra pair of boot laces is nice to have just in case one breaks. You may want to bring camp shoes so you can get out of your boots if you like. Think "layered clothing" for this hunt.

The most commonly used rods are 5 or 6-weights, 9' long. 8 - 8 1/2' rods are also used, but the longer rod is preferable for wind casting and mending purposes. Lighter weight rods can also be used, but again, the heavier rod is preferable partly because we tend to be throwing larger flies than what you may be accustomed to. Flies ranging from size 12 through size 6 are the norm, not the exception.

Yes, there are very strict regulations regarding weapons and illegal goods, which are not allowed on board under any circumstances. If you are caught violating this rule you will be severely punished according to the French Laws. In Japan, one backpack or suitcase with wheels. Many of our tours use public transport and you will be required to carry your own bagage through stations and onto trains or buses.Your tour guide will not be responsible for the loading or unloading of luggage. While the Japanese train system is highly efficient, stations and trains can be overcrowded. Please pack as lightly as possible.

All dogs must be on leash when they arrive at class. It is best to purchase a 6-foot nylon or leather leash. Avoid using a chain leash or a flexi leash in class; they are hard to handle during class.
