This one was a mistake - we thought a nice, innocuous, meaningless four-letter abbreviation would avoid all the explanations necessary with company names that are made-up words or other people's names or whatnot. One of the first topics discussed on the newly created mailing list was whether "premodern" was an appropriate term for the broad period of Japanese cultural history intended as the focus of this list. Some members argued for the terms like "pre-Meiji," "traditional," "classical" or "early Japan.

ANSA stands for American National Space Administration. Or it could stand for Aeronautics and National Space Administration. Whatever it stands for, the word "ANSA" was obviously a play on the official "NASA" designation, which stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Sanos is an abbreviation of Server Appliance Network Operating System. It is also the Spanish word for healthy. Sanos tries to stay healthy by being simple and not implement unnecessary features to avoid feature bloat. It is focused on being a server appliance operating system. sanos does not come with a huge array of standard applications. It only provides the kernel which supports the basic operating system features.
