The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that the new standard may eliminate up to 75 percent of the deaths and injuries that occur annually from mattress fires.

The rule became effective on July 1, 2007 and applies to all mattress sets manufactured in the United States or imported into the United States on or after that date. The standard requires that each mattress set bear a permanent label stating that the mattress complies with the standard.

A common technique used by most mattress producers today to meet the new standard is to enclose the cushioning material within a mattress with a barrier fabric that blocks either heat, oxygen or both from reaching the cushioning material. These fabrics may be woven, knit or non-woven products. Mattress producers usually sew the barrier fabric into the mattress between the ticking cover and the interior cushioning material.

The Privacy Rules require a physician to make reasonable efforts to limit the amount of protected health information that the physician uses or discloses to the minimum amount that is necessary to accomplish the purpose of the use or disclosure. Importantly, this requirement does not apply when a physician discloses information to another provider for treatment purposes or when a physician requests information from another provider for treatment purposes.

The focus of this requirement is to augment teaching and learning processes. You should give your new mattress at least one week before calling your sales person. You have sixty days to make a possible reselection. A stain proof mattress cover must be used during this period. If yourmattress is soiled in any way we will not be able to accept it back.

Rotate it. A new sleep set will feel different from an old set. The important support that the back and the spine need is complemented by the layers of polyfoam, dacron, insulators, and sometimes even wool, silk, or cashmere. The layers of upholstery in old mattresses become compressed and flattened over the years. Upholstery layers in a new mattress have a certain amount of air in these materials, therefore a break in period is required.

You should never place a new mattress upon an old sprung base. Although it may look in good condition, the internal springs will have worn in the same predominant sleeping areas as the previous old mattress. Which means the new mattress will sink and follow the contours of the worn areas. This will not only permanently damage the new mattress, but also give you an uncomfortable sleeping unit.
