It truly depends on your individual needs. There are many organizations that offer internship opportunities throughout the year, and others that may only offer summer opportunities. Many students enjoy focusing on their internship during the summer, while others feel it is best for them to pursue the opportunity during the Fall or Spring semesters.

If you apply for housing for the Fall semester your contract will be for the full academic year (*see next question for one exception), which means August through May. If you are not going to be living with us in the Fall, you can apply for housing for just the Spring semester at a later date (usually in early October).

Spring admissions are allowed in special circumstances for the M.A. program in Political Campaigning only. The deadline for receipt of application materials for Spring admission is November 15.

No. You will need to send a request to the Blackboard Administrators (bbadmin@uttyler.edu) asking for a new course each semester. In that email message, you can specify what you require for your course (course shell, copy a previous course, etc.).

No. The Housing Contract is good for only one semester. Continuing students must apply for every semester they plan on staying on campus. Those who apply properly and on time are guaranteed a room. Those who do not apply properly or late, may not receive housing.

Fall semester classes will meet from the end of August until just before winter break in December. Your freshman advisor will assist you with web registration for the spring semester, which will begin in early November. After the second semester gets underway, you will be assigned to an advisor in your major department (if you have declared) or to an advisor in Career and Academic Planning (if you have not declared).

You should contact your proposed academic department for specific application deadlines; however, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible. Mid-December is the preferred date to process fall applications. You should also consider financial aid deadlines that may impact your decision to attend Virginia Tech. Yes. Degree candidates who wish to maintain their degree candidacy while they are away from the College for one or two semesters must apply for a leave of absence. Leave of Absence forms are available online and in the Registrar's Office, suite 313. In lieu of tuition, students who are approved for leave will be charged an Active File Fee for each semester of leave status. While on leave, students may not be eligible to receive financial aid.

Some freshmen who earn excellent grades during their first semester in IT may be admitted to the program in spring. Transfer students who enter as sophomores may also be admitted to IT lower division honors. For questions and applications, contact an advisor in 136 Lind Hall. Upper division honors is administered by each IT department individually. Students who are not part of the lower division honors program can still participate in upper division honors if their performance merits it.

No. Many of the survey’s questions relate to a year of school experiences; therefore administering the survey in the fall would not produce credible results. An institution would want a full semester of first-year experience before the students participate in the survey. However, if you are looking to administer a fall survey, CSEQ or CSXQ is a possible answer. Please contact NSSE for further information on CSEQ or CSXQ.

No. The Biomedical Science Ph.D. program accepts applications for admission into the Fall semester only.

To take more than the maximum allowed credits, you may file a petition with the Office of Undergraduate Studies. When reviewing your petition, we will consider your prior academic record at FAU. Taking a credit load of more than 19 hours is not recommended.

We cannot tell you the precise dates now because the College does not publish its 2006/2007 calendar until summer 2006. A tentative calendar will be mailed to you along with the application material. Generally, the fall term runs from early September to mid-December and the spring term from mid-March to mid-June.

Feed the bulbs in early spring with a recommended bulb fertilizer or one low in nitrogen. Allow the bulbs to bloom as usual. Wait until the foliage dies back and separates easily from the bulb when given a gentle tug. If you cannot transplant them immediately, mark their location and transplant anytime through late summer. Fertilize again in fall.

Most students beginning in 2007 will register the week commencing 18 September, with classes beginning the week commencing 25 September.
