Visual inspection at periodic intervals (most easily performed while checking the oil level) is always a good money saving idea. A great deal about the condition of the ENTIRE cooling system can be quickly learned by checking both the INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the radiator! Inspect the radiator for coolant seepage or stains around soldered seams of the sides, top and bottom of the radiator. Remove bugs and debris from the finned core area while checking for coolant leaks.

Geez, wouldn't that be nice! To date we have not found a way to change your hose without lowering the fluid in your radiator. When we find it you'll be the first to know.

Ordinarily the radiant tubing must run at a lower temperature than the baseboard. This means that a mixing valve is used to provide a lower temperature for the radiant heating tube. It might be possible to avoid the expense of the mixing valve if the baseboard can be run at a lower temperature and if you select a radiant tubing with a high temperature rating, but the situation will not be ideal.

Back in the 50s, MCI installed radiators in the back of the cabin structure above the floor. This idea was to prevent an ongoing problem of leaves, dirt, and debris being sucked in the low slung radiator. Over the years, all manufacturers install their radiators next to the engine on the left side. The main reason is roads are far superior to what they were 50 years ago and there is not as much debris on the highways.

Remove the front grill by undoing the two screws on the front face. It will still be held in place by two plastic clips at top at the edges. You will need to release these clips using a screwdriver pressed down from the top of the grill. It should then pull forwards. Now remove the front bumper by undoing the 6 retaining bolts. You will need a 13mm socket to do this. Two bolts are visible from where the front grill was.

Replace it. In most VWs this is pretty easy to do (1 hr), and a new radiator (which is = OEM) can be had for around 100-150US$. The hard part, esp. in older cars and in Europe, is finding the right radiator. Even VW does not keep track of what car left the factory with what radiator. Furthermore, the serial numbers are not very useful because they may not be available anymore.

The department will send you a written decision (called a determination) telling you whether benefits may be paid or not. This determination is usually issued about 14 to 21 days after the day you file. If benefits are allowed on your claim, your first check will usually be mailed on the same day as the written decision. You must claim benefits each week prior to receipt of your determination in order to receive payment for those weeks.

Last but not least! This engine or any other engine we offer needs to run cool to expect long term results out of it. A used / older radiator that has been sitting around is not worth cleaning and reusing . A new 3 or 4 core Radiator is a cheap investment compared to an overheated $5,000.00 engine! It's worth the investment to spend a couple of hundred bucks to get a new radiator. Pay a little now or pay Later philosophy. There's plenty of good Radiator companies out there

They are made of 18mm high density fibreboard and you can safely place objects such as ornaments on top of them.

Radiators are heavy items and should be securely fastened to the wall. Specific care should be taken to identify the construction of the wall and use the appropriate fasteners to secure the radiator bracket. Each radiator bracket has several positions for screws. All Radiator Company radiators are supplied with the correct fixings and detailed instructions, which are also available on line.

Traditionaly the optimum place to fit a radiator is the coldest part of the room, such as beneath a window. However, this limits the length of the curtains. With today’s high insulation standards, you can fit a radiator elsewhere, without compromising on effectively heating the room. Another option may be to fit 2 smaller radiators instead.

If you have fitted a standard radiator in the past, then you should have no problem fitting one from our designer range. All our radiators have brackets and screws included.

A thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) is shown in the image to the right. You will find it on the pipework at the top or bottom of your radiator. It gives you greater control over the heat from each individual radiator. Each TRV can be set to a temperature to suit you, so you can have different temperatures in different rooms.

It's best to set your TRV to a middle setting and see if the room is warm enough. If the room is too warm, turn the TRV down by 1, if the room is too cold, turn the TRV up by 1. A middle setting corresponds to approximately 20ºC (68F). Do NOT turn the TRV fully ON or fully OFF to make the room you are in warmer or cooler - this will waste fuel. Turn it a little way and let it do the work.

There may be one (or more) radiators in your home, usually the bathroom, which does not have a TRV. This does not mean that one is missing. There sometimes needs to be one radiator always open to allow water to flow into it if all the others are turned off, to avoid damage to the pump or boiler. Sometimes it is not necessary to have a TRV in the room with the main room thermostat.

Nearly all people suffering a frozen radiator do not agree with the diagnosis. Often, the customer incorrectly believes that the temperature in the room did not fall to below freezing point because a) he trusts his room thermostat, or b) claims that because the other rooms are heated it is not possible for anywhere else in his house to freeze. the upper water channel will have been deformed by the expansion process of the change from water into ice.
