It's just a matter of preference. I wore a white gi for the first twenty or so years in the Art and Mr. LeRoux for probably the first fifteen. If your black top is sheer or a knit, your best bet is to wear a nude colour. If your top has a low neckline and movement could reveal the edges of your bra, the best colour is black.
