Yes, we have Honda 250cc motorcycles as well as Honda,s and Kawasaki,s that are used for open motorcycle training, also a range of helmets and gloves are available.

The first day is usually pretty cold and wet, so most people wear an ISDE GoreTex jacket or equivalent. The rest of the way down you can usually start the day in a Pak Jak and then strip down to a jersey once things warm up. A lot of guys wear their GoreTex jackets the whole way down and open the vents for cooling. These GoreTex jackets can often pay off with greater protection in the inevitable falls, get-offs, cactus-huggings, etc.

Don't leave home without a GoreTex Pak Jak. It will keep you dry and seal out the wind. Extremely versatile, and if you ever get stranded overnight, you'll want to have one along. Just ask Bill Nichols.

I have been riding off and on for 30 years. For a considerable period during that time, a motorcycle was my primary means of transportation year 'round. I have had a couple small Hondas, a Triumph, a BSA Lightning (my all-time favorite bike), three Yamahas, a Harley-Davidson Sportster, and a Buell S3 Thunderbolt. I am currently riding a H-D Super Glide Sport.

For the ERC you will need to furnish your own motorcycle. You will also need to provide proof of current registration, inspection and insurance. NOTE: We are guests at our training sites. Loud motorcycle pipes jeopardize the use of the sites for all students and may be prohibited. When you ride your own motorcycle to class, please respect our site sponsors by being as quiet as possible.

Motocross gear is the most comfortable and practicle. Bring your motocross jersey, pants, knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves if you have them. If not, gear is available (please be sure to fill out the appropriate section on your registration.) Leathers, either dirt-track two piece or one piece roadrace style leathers are acceptable. But, they are more restrictive and chances are good they will get DIRTY.

Not to worry. We offer a variety of riding gear for all sizes. Helmet, boots, jacket, and gloves are available for loan during the course.

We only require a DOT helmet, LONG pants (no shorts) and over the ankle boots for each rider and passenger. We wear gloves, riding suits (textile or leather) and boots... and we suggest that you do too for the purpose of protecting you in the event of a crash.

Yes, it is encouraged that if you have riding grear, please bring it. Your helmet will fit your head better. Please remember to bring your helmet, goggles, chest protector, gloves, boots, jersey and pants. We would also recomend that you wear protection for you elbows and knees. The NJORVP's Required safety equipment include: Helmet, Goggles (NO GLASSES or SUNGLASSES Without or instead of Goggles), chest protector, over the ankle boots, long pants, and long sleeve shirt.

A good pair of gloves, preferably leather. You'll probably want a pair for spring/summer, and a pair for fall/winter that are insulated with something like Thinsulate, so your hands don't freeze. A pair of shoes that protect your ankles is also good. Motorcycle boots are actually kind of overkill here; inexpensive hiking or construction boots work just fine. If you do a lot of fast riding, or ride in heavy traffic, a ballistic nylon jacket with shoulder, elbow and arm padding is a good idea.

Protective riding gear is required during the range exercises. Protective gear includes; a riding jacket (or mesh jacket), riding pants (leather chaps are OK), gloves, boots that cover the ankle and a DOT approved helmet (full faced helmet is recommended but not required).

Helmets are included in the hire fee. bikes are also supplied with a basic tool kit/pump. locks are supplied upon request.

Yes we can supply a wide range of damage bikes, either for repair or for breaking. Such bikes are only supplied in volumes, to bone fide bike breakers or traders. A limited access area showing a vast range of such bikes is available on our web site.

A number of companies market framesets suitable for building up as offroad fixes, but we are aware of only one selling a complete bike. All these firms are listed on the Links page, along with a handful of custom framebuilders who have expressed a particular interest in offroad fixed gear projects.

Gloves, jacket, chaps, or riding pants are normal riding apparel of the motorcyclist on tour. PMT strongly recommends you wear appropriate motorcycle specific protective gear for the duration of the tour just as you would when riding your own motorcycle. Our rental partners can offer a helmet with the cost of the rental bike, however we would recommend you bring your own helmet for its familiarity and comfort.

Yes. If bringing your own, a good helmet, pants, gloves, knee and elbow guards, goggles and boots are minimum requirements. We also recommend body armour, kidney belt and a camelback with a 3 litre capacity.
