This is a shared room. Most dormitories have 4 beds, 6 beds or 8 beds, and some are larger. Some hostels have males only dorms and females only dorms or mixed. By booking a dorm with your friends, this may not mean that you will be in the same room.(Back to top)

After being accepted, international students who plan to live in one of SWAU's dormitories should immediately submit a housing information form, the room reservation/damage deposit of $100 is included in the deposit.

You can purchase either one bed in a room (a dorm bed) or the entire room (a private room). Dorm rooms have up to 3 beds and are separated by gender. They are shared with other hostellers. Private rooms accommodate 1, 2, or 3 people and can be coed. All of our dorm rooms and our private rooms have private baths and air conditioning.

Some students choose to bring sheets, towels, pillow cases, and so forth from their own countries. However, after students arrive, we take them to a store to buy things for their room if they do not have other transportation.

Assignment in a converted room means that the number of students assigned to your room will exceed the normal occupancy (i.e. 3 people in a 2 person room, etc.). As spaces become available, students will have to opportunity to move to a regular assigned room. Priority for moving to a room that is not converted is normally determined by the order in which we received each student's application for housing. Therefore, the earlier you mailed in your Housing Application, the higher your priority.

There is a $200 placement fee. The monthly cost at the Los Angeles center is $550 with meals and $480 without. The cost at Fullerton varies depending on the many options chosen. If you are considering the Fullerton dormitory please contact the Fullerton center as soon as possible.
