Is the story in the book The Valkyries a true one?

FAQ
The book's central idea is true (meeting the angel), the journey to Mojave too, but much of what is written is fictionalized. Nevertheless, the most important episode - the meeting of the angel - really did happen, and I left a statue of the Lady of Aparecida in Glorieta Canyon, near Borrego Springs, CA.

Is the book The Valkyries something of a continuation of The Alchemist?

FAQ
No. In fact, The Valkyries and The Pilgimage, are nonfiction books whilst The Alchemist is a fable. It has, of course, elements of my life, but it is not based on real facts as The Valkyries or The Pilgrimage are. In terms of content, The Alchemist focus on striving for one's dream, while in The Valkyries the theme of the book revolves around this question: "Why do we always try to destroy what we love the most?"

Is this book too good to be true?

Frequently Asked Questions (and their Answers)
I have found through my first week of our schedule that it really does work and it not a fairy tale! It's wonderful! We've been so pleased. My dear husband loves it! He even came to me and said he hopes I never, ever stop doing this! Oooooh, just love that positive feedback! *g* My children call this schedule FUN! Can you believe it? Well, you probably can't 'cause I wouldn't have believed it before trying it, either. LOL! It really is working.

So how much of the story is based on true events?

Omake Omatsuri FAQ
Just about anything that is not blatant fantasy... and even some of that is in a grey area. No, we don't actually visit anime worlds (we should be so lucky). Yes, we really are such dedicated otaku that if the opportunity arose, we would probably wait until we were done watching the current video. Strips pertaining to the cat's behavior are almost always literal, although her reasons for doing so may not be exactly as we present them.

Is The Last Samurai a true story?

The Last Samurai Frequently Asked Questions - Hollywood Lot ...
Like with James Cameron's Titanic, The Last Samurai is a fictional character story placed in an actual historic event and time setting. While the story of Captain Algren isn't true (just like the story of Jack and Rose isn't true in Titanic), the events that surround Algren and the time period are true. In 1877, the Samurai lost their final major battle, during a rebellion, when they went up against more modern weaponry. This factual event is part of the basis of the telling of The Last Samurai.

Is Memoirs of a Geisha a true story?

Immortal Geisha - Memoirs of a Geisha FAQ
Whilst Memoirs of a Geisha is a fictional story, Arthur Golden did interview two ex-geisha during his researching phase. The first geisha he spoke with was Kiharu Nakamura, whom he spent an evening speaking with. Kiharu-san has her own biography out about her life as a Shimbashi Geisha. The second geisha he spoke with, and whom he gives a lot of credit to in helping him understand the geisha world is Mineko Iwasaki, who was a very famous maiko and geiko in Gion, Kyoto.

Is it true that "The Thing That Should Not Be" is the same story as The Call Of Ktulu?

Not exactly. The Thing That Should Not Be is a similar creature to the Ktulu who also dwells in the underground. The band decided to continue the story but with a different creature.

I read in a book that bingeing can permanently distend one's stomach. Is this true?

Eating Disorder Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador
For some people, bingeing does indeed stretch and distend the abdomen, making it look poochy. Eating a large meal and then falling asleep, when all the muscles have relaxed, can have the same effect. Some folks tighten up when they stop bingeing, others do not in spite of crunches and other exercises. I am trying to eat, but when I do, I feel bloated for hours. It's not body image distortion, but a real, physical feeling of being too full.

Is it really true there is a WrestleCrap book?

WrestleCrap FAQ - Frequently Asked Crap

Will this story make a picture book?

FAQs: Retold Stories
That depends. Not all folk tales are appropriate for young children, so that is one consideration. Another is whether the story you are contemplating has substance enough for a picture book, i.e. is there enough plot or character, or is this (dreaded editorial judgment) slight? Sometimes you can pull off a small collection in picture book format if the stories have a common theme or place of origin.

Can you write my story or co-author a book with me?

Karen Kingsbury
At this time my contract does not allow me to do so. All of my stories are entirely fictitious and completely made up. Usually the books are not based on any experience I've had. Rather, they come from something I can imagine, or something other people are going through. So, generally yes, the idea just pops into my head because God gives it to me. He does all the hard work.

Is The Ring based on a true story?

Snowblood Apple FAQs
No, NONE of the movie is real. It's not "based on a true story" which half of Hollywood pretends to be because it keeps it real, man; it was based on a Japanese movie (by Nakata Hideo) which itself was based on a Japanese book (by Suzuki Koji), in which the Rachel character was male and the Noah character was a confessed serial rapist. And no, we're not making that up.

Is that engagement story true?

Frequently Asked Questions about Adam Rifkin
Do you really think I would tell such a story if it weren't true? Actually, bottom line: I tell the truth sometimes. And no, I did not get engaged because Michelle got sick of my calling her a PASSLQ. By the way, we did finally get married in 1998. So now she can't leave me without some serious legal maneuvering...

Where did you get the idea of writing Francis Rain? Is it based on a True Story?

Margaret Buffie
I got the idea from clearing away that old garbage dump on an island near our cottage and finding the pair of spectacles. It was those small wire glasses that made me decide to write the story about a girl who, when she puts on the glasses, goes into the past to help a ghost solve a problem and find some peace. It is not based on a real story, but on fragments of things I've read, dreams, bits of my own life, and, of course, mainly my imagination - which has always worked overtime!

Mulan a True Story?

Is That True That People Can Trace Their Ancestor Lines Via ...
Do you know if the character and the story of Mulan is a true story?I think I heard somewhere that there was actually a Chinese girl by that name who saved the city.  I have a nice collection of stone tools I have found over the years.  People have said Indians used them but they appear to me to be from cave man days.

Is her story true? Yours? What was she like?

B?thory Erzs?bet - Elizabeth Báthory: Short FAQ
It's mostly speculation. The few documents that exist are not available translated into a language I can read (alas, my Hungarian is limited to "köszönöm" and "jol" and "jo napot" and what I vaguely remember from my youth). Her diaries may be more fiction than fact. At least one person has told me that he has seen them and held them in his hands, and has relatives who can read them and have translated portions.
