Yes. Regardless of your high school grade point average, your official SAT Reasoning/ACT test scores are required.

SAT or ACT scores are required for all applicants who graduated from high school after 1998. This requirement is waived for transfer students who have completed a minimum of 24 credits with a GPA of at least 2.0.

If you graduated from high school within the past five years, you must have a 480 SAT Verbal and 400 Math scores or 20 ACT English and 17 Math score, as well as completion of the math and English college preparatory courses in high school.

The minimum required TOEFL score for both undergraduate and graduate applicants is 550 on the paper-based exam or 213 on the computer-based exam. It is important to specify whether you are applying as an undergraduate or graduate student; requirements differ for each student classification.

SAT/ACT scores are generally not required for transfer students. However, if a student interested in transferring to Canisius is currently in his/her first semester of courses at another college or university, SAT or ACT scores may be considered.

High school students whose graduating class has not graduated yet are required to take the ACT/SAT, regardless of how many college credits they have. High school students who have graduated but have not yet enrolled in college will also need to take the ACT/SAT. (Please note that LDSBC does not require an ACT/SAT score. However, it is recommended.) We will accept both ACT and/or SAT scores. We will use the highest of all composite test scores for admission purposes.

Our Student Records Department has PSAT, SAT and ACT test scores on the transcripts for some students, but only if the student provided us with his/her correct social security number and put the correct social security number on the test at the time the test was taken. Test scores are posted from a data file purchased from the testing company, so we can't be certain that all information is provided. We are under no requirement to maintain these scores, but do so as a convenience to the students.

ACT/SAT scores are used to place students into the appropriate levels of math, English, and reading courses. If ACT or SAT scores place students into courses below college-level, they may try to improve their course placement by taking the COMPASS test.

The chapters will take into account a participant's SAT/ACT scores along with her high school/college grades. If a Potential New Member's scores/grades are low, the chapters will have concern for the possibility of the Potential New Member experiencing difficulty in managing the time commitment required for New Member Education and a busy school schedule.

The UC and CSU systems do not require high school grades or SAT scores from students when they transfer at the junior level.

Yes. Standardized test scores are an important part of your application for admission, but they are only one part of your application. Each major has established requirements. For example, the School of Business and Engineering place more of an emphasis on the math SAT than most of the majors in the School of Arts and Sciences. If you are applying as a freshman student at LTU, you are required to take either the SAT or ACT.  If you have taken at least 30 credits or one year of full-time college course-work you are not required to take the SAT or ACT for admission.

You may have read that the average SAT is 1170 or 26 ACT. If you are above those averages and have strong grades, you are doing well. Students with scores below the average should remember that it’s an average and not a minimum. Remember, we take your test scores in context with your entire application. We accept either test. We recommend that you take two tests (two SATs, two ACTs, or one of each). We’ll take your top score. Whatever you do, try to relax while taking the test.

If you are still in high school, we suggest that you take the ACT. You may decide to attend college elsewhere later where the test may be required for admission, and your basic skills assessment (ASSET) may be waived at Hawkeye with adequate ACT scores.

We do not require the SAT / ACT for admission. However, we do recommend that you still take them. If you have taken the test, feel free to forward your scores to the Office of Admissions for review.

You will receive a scaled score of 1-36 on each of the 4 ACT tests (you will receive a raw score of 2-12 on your essay that represents the sum of the 1-6 scores from two graders). Your composite score on the ACT is the average of your 4 scores rounded to the nearest integer, so it is also a 1-36 score. Because the SAT and the ACT are completely different tests developed by different companies, their scores cannot be compared directly.

GPA is only one of a number of factors considered by law schools during the admissions process. Admissions officers recognize that a number of factors can contribute to a low undergraduate GPA that do not necessarily reflect on a student's ability to succeed in law school. A high LSAT score and a strong record of volunteer service or extra-curricular activities, combined with an effective personal statement and solid letters of recommendation will often offset a low GPA.
