For courses that are developed on a time-based sequence, such as American Literature I and American Literature II, it is acceptable to take them out of sequence since knowledge gained in the first course is not necessary for the second course and vice versa.

When "Curriculum" has been chosen, a list of courses will be displayed on the screen. When a subject is chosen, there will be a list of levels in the center of the screen. Yes. The Global Program is organized as a "cohort" -- which means simply that all students follow a course of studies together. Participants in this cohort will take a common set of classes, starting and finishing the program together, for a total of 36 credits (12 courses). Participants are guaranteed enrollment in all courses in the program, so there is no chance that a course would be full or not offered when needed. The program is open to students from any part of the world.

After the first year (second year for part time students), students may select which courses to take. Students bear the responsibility of ensuring that they take all of the required courses, complete the upper level writing requirement, and obtain at least 88 units of credit before their proposed graduation date. If you have taken Biocore/Biology 301-302, you should take Biology/Botany/Zoology 151 and a foundation course. If you have taken Biocore/Biology 301-302 and 303-304, you should take Biology/Botany/Zoology 152. A foundation course is not required. If you have a placement in Writing 1 or Writing 2, it means you are exempt from ESL. Writing 1 fulfills the Subject A requirement. Writing 2 is the highest placement for this exam. The Spanish Department offers a sequence of six courses focusing primarily on the development of competence in the Spanish language. No. If you received an A in math 10A you may take math 20A for 2 units credit. Completion of Math 10A and 10B allow you to enroll in Math 20B for 2 units credit. Completion of Math 10A, B & C allows you to enroll in Math 20B for 2 units credit and Math 20C for 2 units credit. An IRES, or Internal Ribosomal Entry Segment, is a sequence that supports translation initiation from the second cistron in a dicistronic message. In our transfer vector pQBI-AdCMV5-IRES-GFP, the first cistron is gene X (i.e. your favorite gene) and the second cistron is the GFP.
