How does transformer temperature relate to losses, BTU's and enclosures?

Sola/Hevi-Duty
Transformers generate heat! They all do. There is no way of getting around it. Heat is a by-product of the transformation process and heat is due to losses in both the core and coils of the transformer. For most applications, the heat generated is of little concern. But it becomes a concern when determining how much cooling must be provided to compensate for the heat or when the temperature of the enclosure could become a problem. Transformer losses are dependent on loading. See similar questions...

What is the Comfort Zone and how does this relate to BTU's?

Miles Fireplaces - Education: Frequently Asked Questions
The Comfort Zone is that area in your home that can attain an even comfort level using a steady burning efficient heat source like a Valor fireplace Heater. Depending on your house layout and fireplace location, the Comfort Zone may be one room or a complete level or zone. In Fall or Spring, a Valor may easily provide comfort for the entire home. The amount of BTU's of heat necessary to maintain this Comfort Zone is in the range of 5,000 to 15,000 BTU/hr. See similar questions...

What is a BTU ?

Heater Shop FAQ - Our frequently asked questions about heate...
BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. It is the industry standard unit of measurement for heat quantity. 1 BTU is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water at its maximum density by 1 degree Fahrenheit: See similar questions...

What effect does ambient temperature have on transformer operation?

Sola/Hevi-Duty
Other conditions that need be considered when sizing a transformer to a motor load are ambient temperature (derate the transformer nameplate rating by 8% for ever 10?C above 40?C), altitude (derate nameplate rating by 3% for every 300 feet above 3300 feet), and motor loads that frequently start and stop. If a motor starts several times an hour (such as an air conditioner), the calculated transformer size required should be increased by 20% to offset the effects of inrush heating. Where can I get a transformer, and for how much?

US to UK Moving FAQ
First of all, you might consider whether it might not be better to wait until getting to the UK to buy transformers. There's not much of a market in the US for converters, since there is only one electrical standard in the US and Canada. Europe seems to be a little more aware of the existence of different electrical standards in the world, and thus stores probably have better availability and wider selection. Why should the temperature in the transformer not become too high?

Transformers FAQ | Leonardo ENERGY
Besides destruction, the lifetime of a transformer is determined by its highest temperature (so-called hot-spot temperature). For an oil-cooled transformer according to IEC 60354, lifetime is reduced by a factor 2 for every 6 degrees increase in hot-spot temperature. For dry transformers, according to IEC 60905, the increase is 10 degrees. In particular for transformers serving harmonic loads, the hot-spot location is difficult to determine. top See similar questions...

What is meant by a transformer's temperature rise?

Frequently Asked Questions - Jefferson Electric
A transformer’s rated temperature rise (degrees Celsius) is the average temperature of the transformer’s windings over an ambient temperature of 40°C. In other words, the average winding temperature = ambient temperature rise. See similar questions...

In the transformer section, what does C.T. mean?

Hammond Mfg. - FAQ Section (Frequently Asked Questions)
C.T. is short for center tapped. The center of the winding has been brought out of the transformer via a wire lead or termination. See similar questions...

How does depression relate to PMDD?

facts for health--premenstual dysphoric disorder--frequently...
Depression is one of the more common symptoms of PMDD. Women often feel sad, blue, unhappy, down in the dumps, and/or hopeless as part of the PMDD symptom complex. But remember, the depressive symptoms of PMDD are linked to the menstrual cycle and must be absent at least during the week following menses. Also, depression is not necessary for the diagnosis of PMDD. See similar questions...

How does RL relate to Neuroscience?

RL FAQ
Ideally, the ideas of reinforcement learning could constitute part of a computational theory of what the brain is doing and why. A number of links have been drawn between reinforcement learning and neuroscience, beginning with early models of classical conditioning based on temporal-difference learning (see Barto and Sutton, 1982; Sutton and Barto, 1981, 1990; Moore et al., 1986), and continuing through work on foraging and prediction learning (see Montague et al. How does RL relate to behaviorism?

RL FAQ
Formally, RL is unrelated to behaviorism, or at least to the aspects of behaviorism that are widely viewed as undesireable. Behaviorism has been disparaged for focusing exclusively on behavior, refusing to consider what was going on inside the head of the subject. RL of course is all about the algorithms and processes going on inside the agent. For example, we often consider the construction of internal models of the environment within the agent, which is far outside the scope of behaviorism. See similar questions...

How does melatonin relate to my health?

GDX Comprehensive Melatonin Profile Frequently Asked Questio...
Melatonin levels decrease with age and this deficit may play an important role in the high frequency of insomnia among elderly people. A disruption in the normal sleep-wake cycle caused by shift work, jet lag, stress, or other factors can also trigger abnormal levels. Low levels of melatonin have been linked to depression and many degenerative diseases, such as AIDS and cancer. Melatonin also has the potential to modify ovarian function. See similar questions...

How does percolation relate to SOC ?

Self-Organizing Systems FAQ for Usenet newsgroup comp.theory...
Percolation is an arrangement of parts (usually visualised as a matrix) such that a property can arise that connects the opposite sides of the structure. This can be regarded as making a path in a disconnected matrix or making an obstruction in a fully connected one. The boundary at which the system goes from disconnected to connected is a sudden one, a step or phase change in the properties of the system. See similar questions...

How does it relate to chaos ?

Self-Organizing Systems FAQ for Usenet newsgroup comp.theory...
In nonlinear studies we find much structure for very simple systems, as seen in the self-similar structure of fractals and the bifurcation structure seen in the logistic map. This form of system exhibits complex behaviour from simple rules. In contrast, for self-organizing systems we have complex assemblies generating simple emergent behaviour, so in essence the two concepts are complementary. See similar questions...

How does the DOI System relate to DNS?

Frequently Asked Questions
The most common mechanism for resolution on the Internet is the Domain Name System (DNS): http as used in URL is a use of DNS. URLs are grouped by domain name and then by some hierarchical structure, originally based on file trees, now possibly unconnected from that but still a hierarchy. DOI names offer a more finely grained approach to naming where each name stands on its own, unconnected to any DNS or other hierarchy. See similar questions...

What does BTU Mean?

veelgestelde vragen - Heritage Batrooms
Btu stands for British Thermal Units and is measured per hour, hence Btu/hr. In easy terms, the higher the number, the more heat the rail will produce. If you have a large bathroom and you want to heat the room as well as your towels, then you should go for a rail with a high Btu/hr rating. See similar questions...
