The purpose of the certification exam is to determine whether a candidate has met the standards required to be certified, not to rank-order candidates. The questions are designed to best classify the candidates into two categories: pass or fail. The exam committee for each specialty sets the pass mark using a modified Angoff method by rating each question according to its difficulty and the expected success rate of nurses with at least two years of full-time experience in the specialty.

Once you have completed the exam, submit it to us by email or diskette. To email CFE Exam results, go to the Utilities menu of the exam program and choose "Export Results." Save this file to your computer and email a copy to exam@ACFE.com or mail on diskette to ACFE Headquarters. Your exam will be graded at the ACFE and you will be notified of pass or fail by email within 7-10 business days.

Pass/Fail is an opportunity for students to expand their educational experience beyond their major and the general education courses. Pass/Fail may NOT be used for General Education, Bachelor of Arts, and Major requirements. It may be considered for elective courses.
