IB certificate candidates taking all or some IB classes may choose to take exams in IB subjects of their choice or they may have the choice of not taking any IB exams at all. IB Diploma candidates must sit for exams in all 6 subjects in order to qualify for the IB Diploma.

Diploma programme students generally take six exams, including one literature course taught in the student’s native language, one foreign language, one social science, one experimental science, one mathematics and one arts course. The arts course can be replaced by a second social science, a second experimental science, or a third language.

Any student who does not take the IB exams will be given a parallel ISP exam. In this case, no IB certificate or IB Diploma will be granted but the student will get an ISP grade. It's important to note that in order to get college/university credit for IB subjects, the student must sit for IB exams.

Answer: Comparing the number of IB diploma students with the number of AP diploma students is comparing apples and oranges. The differences between the two programs are significant. In fact, there is no AP diploma. The College Board, which administers AP exams, stopped offering an AP diploma four or five years ago. At that time, FCPS said it would continue recognizing students who take a specified number of AP courses and exams with an AP certificate.

There are two kinds of IB assessments: external and Internal. Some assessment methods include portfolios/Dossiers, written essays, studio works, experimental work, oral commentaries as well as written exams and are tailored for the different learning styles. Considering that exams may or may not reflect what a student really knows and what he or she is able to do, having a variety of assessment tools allows the IB organization to fairly assess the student's true ability.

College credit is given to students who receive a score of 4 or 5 on specific AP exams. For more details regarding AP credits, e-mail the Admissions Representative who works with your country. IB is designed as a model of holistic education for the mid-range student and above. Statistically speaking, most students who earned the IB Diploma worldwide were of average or above average ability. It is not a program designed only for geniuses. What the IB program requires students to have are a strong work ethic, good time management and solid study skills. Yes, the IB staff has the right and the responsibility to remove students from IB if their academic performance is inadequate to enable them to be successful in the program, if they engage in cheating, dishonesty, or any breach of integrity, or if their behavior is such that it interferes with students' opportunities to learn or teachers' opportunities to teach. All students are subject to the IB Probation and Exit Policy, which says that students must maintain a 3.

ISP offers the IB program as means to enrich their secondary school experience. Students at ISP have the freedom to register for some IB classes, all IB classes or non-IB college preparatory classes. Some students opt for the IB Diploma as well as the Panamanian diploma which requires taking both IB and non-IB classes.

Students and parents are invited to attend an orientation session on the International Baccalaureate program. IB diploma aspirants will have to complete an application process that includes: IB committee comprised of the principal, IB Coordinator and the counselor will evaluate each application carefully and make recommendations for placement of applicants in one of the following categories: Full IB Diploma, IB Diploma (on probation), IB Certificate, or non-IB.

Yes. The College awards credit for an AP score of 3, 4, or 5 in any recognized discipline. Credit is awarded for a score of 5, 6, or 7 on a Higher Level IB Examination. AP and IB credit may be used to satisfy general requirements. Each academic department maintains its own policy regarding the use of AP or IB credit for placement in courses and progress in the major.

In a supervised setting the students can simply login to the exam (using a link from the college web site for instance) and select the exam title indicated by the supervisor. The student will input their student number a long with the exam password which must also be provided by the supervisor. Getting students to do open book test by themselves can be useful in getting them to work through their class notes.

The limit will relate to the Microsoft Access database. With a large number of students taking exams simultaneously there could be submission issues (page not found type errors) if the load is too much. If such problems are encountered it is recommended to migrate the Access database to SQL Server which will have no limit.

Some instructors will give their tests/exams on line. Students will have a particular “window of opportunity” to logon and take the test/exam. It may be a timed exam. For those professors who do not do their testing on line, students will be required to secure a proctor to administer their test at their expense. There will be particular proctor guidelines to follow and the proctor must be approved by the instructor.

Yes. I do not however force exams onto students as I have my own teaching methods and students are often not interested in taking exams. I have been an examiner for the London College of Music for many years now and so have an excellent knowledge of what is required to pass the exams.

Answer: The College is a centre for Cambridge exams and students can sit for FCE, CAE and CPE at the College in June and December. We can arrange for examinations in March if students wish to take exams then.
