In most cases a table lamp with a soft shade is not suited for doing tasks that require seeing small details, such as reading or cross-stitch. Table lamps are designed to look pretty with your furniture and give a soft, warm glow. The shade diffuses the light and prevents more intense, focused light from reaching your task.

If you have a lamp with a #1 or a #2 or a #3 size brass collar, you can convert your lamp from fitting a glass shade to fitting a fabric shade using our adaptors. First remove your lamp’s burner by gently screwing the burner counterclockwise until it comes off the collar. Next measure the inside diameter of the collar. If it measures 7/8” inside diameter, you should have a #1 size collar. If it measures 1 3/ 16” inside diameter, you should have a #2 size collar.

The simplest way to determine the correct shade size for your table lamp is to measure the lamp height from the bottom edge of the table lamp base to the top of the lamp stem (just below the socket cap). The shade you choose for your lamp should have a bottom diameter that is within 2”, plus or minus, the measured height of your lamp.

Although hosta is a shade loving plant, if it's too dark hostas will probably grow and survive, but not flourish. Ideally, hostas prefer a dappled shade. While some hostas are sun tolerant, if there is not enough shade it may effect leaf color.

LAMP is an electronic music library of classical and contemporary CDs that may be accessed across the MIT campus, including in student dormitory rooms and faculty offices. While at MIT, patrons can listen to CDs in the collection on demand, free of charge, over the MIT cable television system. We are using LAMP to research the effects of a more-accessible music library on education and music-listening behavior at MIT. More information is at http://lamp.mit.edu/.

LAMP is a joint project of the MIT Student Information Processing Board (Josh Mandel/Keith Winstein) and MIT Cable Television (Randy Winchester/Jon Ward). LAMP is generously supported by MIT iCampus (MIT/Microsoft Research) and StreetFire Sound Labs, and is supervised by Professor Hal Abelson.

The Berkeley Lamp uses two 55W CFL lamps. The total lamp power is 110W. Each lamp is fully dimmable, which can reduce wattage even further. A small sized room does not need both components on at full output to light it effectively.

The Plug: On newer table lamps, the prongs on the plug are different sizes. The larger prong is (should be) the neutral. The receptacle in the wall has different sized slots; the longer slot is (should be) the neutral. For safety, the plug should fit in only one way. The cord: If you rub your fingers along the two sides of the cord, one should be smooth while the other has little ridges. The ridges are (should be) on the neutral wire side.

More or less, this varies per area. Not all the trees have fully gronwn and we have tried to give you a new exotic impression.

J.R. will stop Mid-match actions but cannot stop the use of Pre-match cards used as Mid-match actions because J.R. specifically says it affects Action CARDS, not cards that simulate Actions.

Each of the two lamps produces 3500 lumens (7000 lumens total for both lamps). Taking into account optical fixture losses, the total light output of the Berkeley Lamp is 6000 lumens. A typical halogen torchiere produces 3300 lumens, and a typical 150W incandescent table lamp produces under 2000 lumens. So the light output of the Berkeley Lamp exceeds the combined output of a 300W torchiere and a 150W table lamp.

Many Hybrid Musks and some Albas can tolerate partial shade. A few other varieties including the Floribunda "Gruss An Aachen" can be planted in partial shade. Some other roses that may grow in partial shade are the Rugosas, Iceberg(FB), Zephirine Drouhin (Bourbon), Souvenir du Docteur Jamain(HP) and Madame Plantier.

With a top-down shade, when the shade is open, the fabric stacks at the bottom of the window opening rather than at the top. A partially open top-down shade allows light through the upper part of the window. This style is popular in situations where privacy is an issue.

With a top-down/bottom-up shade, the shade cloth can stack (fold up) either at the top as standard shades do, at the bottom as top-down shades do, or at any point in between. This is a very versatile design. We highly recommend a valance to cover the lifting system hardware. However, a valance may not be necessary if the shade is being mounted behind a soffit or other architectural structure.

Probably because it was Load Shed. This means that it was called so often its tracing overhead became excessive and tracing was disabled for it during the run. It will appear in the Load Shed table, where you can choose to stop it from being Load Shed during the next run. You can't. The concept of levels is no longer supported. Instead you can apply a Trace Trigger, or disable and enable the trace using the probes tab for a given function. These are not currently integrated with RootCause.
