The MetaL compiler engine traverses XML source code and executes actions associated with each command tag. Actions may be immediate, like creating a file, or generating some output, like the lines of code of a program in a given target language. Command actions are implemented by compiler modules. Such modules implement the different kinds of commands of the language, like execution flow, variable and expression manipulation, object oriented programming classes, etc.

The ranking or judging is done via two patent pending algorithms that serve up top ranking, middle ranking and relatively new uploaded material in a channel in "somewhat" random fashion for someone to judge. When we say somewhat, we mean that we take care of serving up the material in a fair and unbiased fashion. MetaL was completely developed in PHP. The current implementation of MetaL compiler engine and the available modules were developed with more than 20,000 lines of PHP code. PHP was used because it provides a good set of powerful commands to dynamically manipulate text strings and associative arrays that were crucial for the rapid development of the MetaL engine. PHP is a scripting language that was originally meant for Web programming.

The glow plug igniter heats up the glow plug and when the crankshaft is rotated by the pullstarter or starter box, the fuel gets compressed against the heated glow plug by the piston, which is moving up in the engine sleeve. When the piston is at the top of its stroke, the glow plug has heated the fuel to the point where the fuel explodes, sending the piston to the bottom of its stroke to allow more fuel in, which the piston forces up against the glow plug, and the cycle starts over again.

The browser-based search engine in help.start() utilizes a Java applet. It works by generating source code in a target language from a program specification in a higher level language. MetaL programs source code is based on XML. MetaL compiler engine can be used to generate the same program from MetaL source code to potentially any target language. Currently supported target languages are PHP, Java and Perl.

Essentially, a metal detector detects metal through the transmission and reception of very low frequency (VLF) magnetic waves.
