Jowls are commonly associated with ageing in the lower half of the face, often accompanied by laxity of the tissues under the chin, giving the person a double chin or “turkey neck”. A minimal incision facelift of just the lower two-thirds of the face is often more than enough to elevate these tissues if there is some fixation of the tissues underneath (not just a skin lift). The results always look more natural when they do not rely on skin tightening alone.

A sagging chin can be caused by a number of factors. Skin loses its elastic nature as we age and tends to sag. Also, your genes, cigarette smoking, and excessive sun exposure can all contribute to sagging skin.
