The female lays one egg a day. After she lays the last egg there is a two week gestation period before hatching. (Incubation does not start until all the eggs are laid.)

The alphabet is remarkably easy to memorize, taking most people about 2 hours just for the letters alone. (Contrast this to weeks or months to learn how to type on a typewriter; also 2 hours is roughly the same time it takes to learn Graffiti for the PalmPilot.

This varies somewhat depending on the type of finch. Usually around 14 days of incubation, but a general range can span 12-18 days. Note that incubation does not begin until the parents start sitting, which frequently will not happen until the 3rd or 4th egg is laid, or sometimes the entire clutch.

Most parrots take 26 days after incubation starts. Cockatiels and some smaller birds take from 18-21 days to hatch. Sometimes the mother hen will wait until all her eggs are laid, the she will start sitting. Some will start sitting from the time they lay their first egg. Its best to try to date the egg lightly in pencil at the wide end of the egg, but you must be very careful and not press too hard, you don't want to break through the shell.

For most breeds of ducks the eggs are incubated for 25 days at a dry bulb temperature of 37.5 C (99.5 F) and a wet bulb temperature of 29.4 - 30.0 C (85 to 86 F) then transferred to the incubator hatcher where the temperature is held at a dry bulb temperature of 36.9 C (98.5 F) and a wet bulb temperature of 34.4 C (94 F) till they hatch on day 28. During incubation the eggs should be turned at least three times daily. Muscovy ducks take 35 to 37 days to hatch.

It takes between 29 and 31 days for the eggs to hatch. Both sexes incubate. A Whooping Crane pair will renest if the first clutch of eggs is destroyed before mid-incubation.

It will last for thousands of performances! If it gets dirty, you just wash it with water and mild soap (be careful not to get water inside the egg, it takes a long time to dry...). When it's clean it gets a little sticky. To prevent this, you add corn starch on the outside and the inside. Corn starch is used for making sauces and for other cooking purposes, and your mother will tell you where you can buy it. It costs almost nothing.

It does not have to be refrigerated. Of course, the colder temperature would reduce the growth rate of any bacteria or other organisms that would be in it. If it is clean and nothing is growing in it, it should last forever. We keep them on a constant 14 hour on/10 hour off light cycle. The fish tend to lay their eggs within 1-2 hours of when the lights go on. We use fluorescent lights.

I incubate my eggs at a temperature of 82F, and they take an average of 52 days to hatch. If you use a hotter temperature, they will generally take less time, and cooler temp take longer.

The procedure itself lasts only 15 to 20 minutes. To ensure your safety and well being, you will recover at our office 45 minutes to two hours following the procedure. Because you will have been sedated, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home and possibly stay with you for the day. You will probably be able to resume your normal activities the next day.

The egg donation process from treatment start to retrieval takes approximately one month. The egg retrieval itself takes minutes.

From the time when they initially pierce the egg, it usually takes between 8-24 hours. The first small fracture is to permit air breathing to begin - prior to this time the embryos oxygen demand has been met via permeation through the egg shell. This first small hole is gradually enlarged over the next few hours. The hatchling may then sit in the egg for quite some time whilst its egg sac is absorbed.

Most breeders incubate for 48 to 56 days. Since the eggs are dark green in color, they cannot be candled. Instead, breeders tap the egg and watch for movement or use a night scope and a heavy-duty MagLight.

Hatching baby brine is relatively easy. You can go the your local pet store and buy a hatching kit which includes brine shrimp eggs and a hatcher and follow the included instructions. Purchase a brine shrimp net if one is not included in the kit. You can also build a hatcher of your own out of a one-gallon jar with an airstone or as I do, use an inverted 3-liter bottle with air feeding from the narrow neck. I cut the bottom out of the bottle and save as a cover.

If the hen lays irregularly by skipping a day or two or more in the laying of the whole clutch, it means the rhythm of nature is not functioning properly. This is common in early season breeding, or if she is not in top condition for breeding. It is unwise to breed this hen. She might set on her eggs for a few days and then desert. If she does desert, the eggs most likely are infertile. Even if the eggs are fertile, the chances of this hen being a good feeder is poor.

Once you select a donor, the process generally takes about two to three months. This is an approximate time frame and can vary based on different factors related to a particular cycle. Family Creations will explain the time frame and process in detail upon acceptance into our program.
