You should select references who are able to explain why you would be a good addition to a research group. Anyone who could comment on your skills in the laboratory, creativity, problem solving abilities, motivation, ability to handle complex scientific literature and concepts, etc. would be a good choice. Recommendations from individuals with a science research background are likely to carry more weight than recommendations from those with less understanding of biomedical research.

Applicants are encouraged to get their references form professors, supervisors, and applicable colleagues. References from friends and family are usually not acceptable.

You must provide two letters of recommendation. Each letter should be written by someone who has closely interacted with you and can effectively comment on your academic performance, research abilities, relevant skills, ability to collaborate with a team, and preparation for this program. Letters of recommendation should ideally come from professors who have worked with you as a research supervisor, academic advisor, or course instructor.

We will not write your essay or any other application document on your behalf. Your essay has to disclose your personality (this is what admissions officers are looking for in the essays after all!), and the best way to achieve it is by letting you write your own essay. However, our coaches will work with you very closely to suggest ways how to make your essay original and attractive. Our editors will polish the language and make your voice strong and convincing.

Your recommendation letters should come from academic and business sources. These recommendations should emphasize your strengths in the following areas: quantitative and analytical analysis, written and oral communication, spreadsheet analysis and relevant work experience.

The ideal recommender knows you and is known (by reputation, position, or previous contact) to the admissions committee. We prefer to have letters of recommendation from a faculty member/instructor who knows your capabilities. Recommendations from employers or work supervisors should be as specific as possible about what you have accomplished. Recommendations from peers are usually of less value.

If possible, it is a good idea to have at least two of your letters come from people who can attest to your academic qualifications and promise. Character references are also acceptable, but they should be from people who have known you in some professional capacity.These letters are most valuable if they discuss specific qualities you possess and have exhibited on the job. Avoid letters from family members, neighbors, and personal friends.

Your two Teacher Recommendations should be submitted by persons outside your home. For example, if you have taken any classes at local high schools or community colleges, done any supervised volunteer work, or participated in any religious groups, you might ask someone who has supervised your work or led that organization to submit a recommendation on your behalf. Your Secondary School report should be submitted by the parent or other adult who is currently supervising your academics.
