Can operator's error interfere with test results?

Memory Tester Accuracy and Reliability
Although we have made the operation of our testers quite simple and automatic, the testers include advanced setup features to satisfy the most demanding users. However, some operators may set it up wrong or misinterpret the results. For example, if one operator sets the tester at a partial test of 16Mx64, another operator may be confused to see a 16Mx72 module tests at %16Mx64. This operator may not be aware that the "%" prefix indicate a setup for partial tests...

Can fertility drugs or medication interfere with pregnancy test results?

Early Pregnancy Tests and Ovulation Predictor Kits: FAQ
The only medications that can cause a false positive on a home pregnancy test are those than contain hCG itself. If you are taking fertility medications with hCG - e.g. Novarel, Profasi, Pregnyl - please consult your doctor regarding appropriate times and circumstances for using our tests. Other fertility drugs and medications that do not contain hCG will not precipitate false positive results. Similarly, progesterone will not cause a false positive as well.

Will mouthwash interfere with the results of a breath alcohol test?

Newsletter : AlcoPro
Proper test procedure requires that the subject have nothing in their mouth for 10 to 15 minutes prior to testing. If the subject has anything with alcohol in their mouth just prior to testing, the alcohol in their mouth will contaminate the test, giving an artificially high reading. However, 15 minutes is sufficient time for all mouth alcohol to be dissipated.

Saliva Fertility Tests: Ovulation Predictors

What could interfere with my test results (ie. all tests are negative or positive)?

Ovulation Test FAQ
If you are pregnant, have recently been pregnant or have reached menopause, you may get a misleading result. This may also be true if you are taking fertility drugs or are receiving injections which contain hCG or LH.

Can anything interfere with home pregnancy test results?

HomesteadSchools.com - Women's Health
Most medications, both over-the-counter and prescription drugs, including birth control pills and antibiotics, should not affect the results of a home pregnancy test (such as Profasi, Pregnyl or Novarel). Only those drugs that have the pregnancy hormone hCG in them can give a false positive test result (where the test says you are pregnant when you actually are not). Drugs that have hCG in them can be used for treating infertility (not being able to get pregnant).

What can interfere with results?

Saliva Fertility Tests: Ovulation Predictors
Pregnancy, menopause, or hormonal imbalance, supplemental estrogen, and recent discontinuation of birth control medication may interfere with results. In continued absence of any ferning, your body may not be producing sufficient estrogen. Consult your physician.

Can clomid interfere with test results or cause false positives?

Ovulation Testing: Ovulation Predictor Kit
Clomid may cause false positives if you test for ovulation too early in your cycle. Please consult with your doctor about how to use OPKs in conjunction with Clomid - or other fertility and prescription drugs. Ovulation tests are unlike pregnancy tests - especially when it comes to interpreting results. The results are only positive if the test line is equal to or darker than the control line.

What factors could interfere with test results or cause incorrect readings?

Ovulation Test FAQ
Pregnancy, a recently terminated pregnancy or onset of menopause can cause misleading results. Failure to follow the test instructions, and interpreting results after the 3-5 minute time period has elapsed may compromise accuracy. Treatment with fertility drugs, birth control drugs or drugs containing hCG, LH or LH inhibitors can also interfere with test results.

Do over the counter cold medications interfere with a drug test and cause an error in the test?

NTS: Resource Center
No, if results have been confirmed by GC/MS. However, there may indeed be a problem if no confirmatory test was performed. The over-the-counter cold medications are structurally very similar to amphetamines and may cause interference in the initial screening test only, but not in the molecular fingerprint confirmation test by GC/MS which is the only approved confirmatory technique in certified laboratories. This is why it is necessary to confirm all positive screens.

FAQ Gestational Diabetes - Pregnancy.org Bulletin Board Comm...
Most manufacturers of glucose testing products provide a record diary, although some health care providers may have their own version. Something as simple as a plain paper notebook will work just as well. For your convenience, a printable Daily Diabetes Log can be found on this site. You should record any test result immediately because it's easy to forget what the reading was during the course of a busy day.
