KDE Multimedia Homepage - Frequently Asked Questions by KDE ...
Check your response time settings. On the other hand, the KDE2.0 version is not yet really optimized. This will improve, and until then no real prediction can be made how fast artsd can or can't be.

Why is MadTracker taking so much CPU time?

MadTracker - FAQ
MadTracker has a high-quality playback engine (check the About page), and because of that needs quite a lot of power. The minimum recommended configuration is a Pentium 166 MHz with 32 MB RAM. The optimal configuration would be a Pentium 233 MHz with 64 MB RAM under a NT-based (real 32-bit) version of Windows (NT 4, 2000 or XP). You must have a motherboard with the bugged 686b southbridge. Check The 686b bugfix for more information about this bug and the solutions to solve the problem.

eConsole uses 100% CPU time. Why is this so ?

eConsole History Page
Under Windows 9x, eConsole registers as using 100% of the available CPU time while idle. This does not, however, reflect the actual machine load, since the computer remains accessible and responsive as usual under Windows 9x. The cause for this phenomenon seems to be within the metering API of Windows 9x - under NT, eConsole registers with between 0% and 3% CPU load while idle, which is what one should expect.

Why is my CPU usage at 100%?

FAQs
If you don't have the speed limiter on, Project64 will attempt to run a game as fast as your system possibly can and so your CPU will be fully loaded regardless of how fast your system is or which game it is etc. If you do have the limiter on, this is a sign that your system is not fast enough to run the emulator at full speed in the given situation and configuration.

Can't I just run my serial jobs on the frontend?

IBM Power4 System User Guide
Yes, but we discourage people from doing this as it sometimes slows down the frontend significantly, to the extent that it impedes all interactive sessions. All interactive serial jobs are subject to a 24-hour time limit.

CPU transparency doesn't work for program X, what can I do? How do I disable CPU transparency?

Scratchbox - FAQ List
of the programs do not need any changes for cross-compilation as nowadays Scratchbox should handle also CPU type configure checks automatically. In case you come across software that queries CPU type in a way Scratchbox can't fake, you can always disable CPU transparency and configure that software manually (assuming it can be cross-compiled normally). For ARM you could do it like this: export SBOX_DEFAULT_GCC_PREFIX="host-" export SBOX_DISABLE_CPUTRANSPARENCY=1 CC=arm-linux-gcc .

Why don't you just go 100% Raw?

Raw FAQ
I might one day, who knows. For now, I want to focus on making Raw foodism, in general, a lifetime commitment. For myself, going 75% raw and allowing myself 25% cooked, means that I will be able to maintain this commitment to my health for the rest of my life. I feel good at 75% raw, 25% cooked. It might not always be that way, and so I will respond accordingly. What works for me, might not for you; and vice versa.

Can I just vectorize what I want and not the whole drawing?

Frequent Asked Questions
Despeckling or noise elimination means eliminating small groups of pixels which create visual 'dirt' or visual clutter in a raster image. TracTrix settings allow the user to define the minimum size of object to be vectorized. In this way 'dirt' is ignored and not vectorized.

When I start CpuIdle, the CPU usage immediately climbs to 100%- what's wrong?

CpuIdle - FAQ
When CpuIdle is running, it will use all otherwise idle time to keep the CPU cool, by executing the HLT command. Unfortunately Windows does not recognize the difference between normal CPU usage and CpuIdle's cooling commands that only consume otherwise "spare" time. This does not affect normal applications.

what if it's a 40 Farad capacitor and your amp and vehicle are already drawing 95 of your 100 amps?

Please Read: NEW S&S FAQ - S-10 Forum
in short, i'm not trying to say that capacitors are useless, but they are being misused and not enough research is being done before purchasing. i find it entertaining that people will spend a month picking out a sub and amp combination and then will throw on which ever capacitor has the most chrome on it. a capacitor can still be good for filtering voltage ripples. but before you ever buy a capacitor, please take the time to check the ESR rating from the owner's manual or there website.

Why can't I just increase absorption by taking more dosage of inorganic calcium?

Ultimate Arthritis pain relief,Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatmen...
You could. But as a result there will be more inorganic minerals precipitated in the stomach and small intestine, and the excess amount of magma precipitation will cause G.I. tract distress such as diarrhea or constipation. The precipitate can also absorb crucial vitamins as it is excreted, thus depriving the body of essential vitamin. Therefore, increasing the amount of common inorganic calcium supplements would actually be detrimental.

Can't I just prevent heart disease by taking the right vitamins?

HeartInfo Frequently Asked Questions
The concept of taking vitamins to prevent heart disease is a great one--the problem is that we don't have any proof that they really do. Our only evidence is based on nutritional surveys that suggest that people who eat foods richer in vitamin E, vitamin C, and others are less likely to have heart disease. However, these same people could be getting more exercise and watching their health in many other ways, so these studies don't prove that it's the vitamins that make the difference.
