There is no limit. However, you are still required to renew your license, regardless of the inactive status.

Your license can remain on an inactive status indefinently provided that you continue to pay your license renewal fees when due. If a license has been inactive for more than two years or the license was inactive at the time of renewal, the licensee must complete any continuing education due to re-activate the license.

Depending on what you read or on your physician, you probably will refrain from any strenuous activity for anywhere from three to eight weeks. I started back to work (desk job) a day or two after I got home from the hospital. I also began walking daily, following the advice of the nurse at the hospital. If not for the catheter, I would have been walking 2-3 miles per day within one week of surgery.

The annual renewal fee for inactive status is $35, the same as for an exempt active engineer. Inactive PE's do not have to pay the $200 professional fee. To return to Active status, the PE must pay the $200 professional fee, if applicable. There is no refund of fees already paid to the Board for current year. (back to top)

You must complete sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Commission's Change Application and your broker must release you from the firm in section 4. Only the broker (or an associate broker that he or she has given authorization to sign for the broker) may release you from the firm. The Commission must receive the completed application within 30 days of your release or you must pay a $25.00 penalty before you will be released from that firm in the Commission's records. .

ANSWER: Indefinitely. However, if you remain on retired status for five (5) or more years and wish to reactivate your license, you will be required to retake and the Florida Laws and Rules exam before reactivation. Generally, a lawful permanent immigrant must make arrangements for reentry into the United States if he or she will be outside of the country for more than one year. These arrangements should be made prior to leaving the United States.

J-1 visa holders are generally admitted for "Duration of Status" (shown as a D/S on your Form I-94 Arrival-Departure record). This means that you may remain in the United States until the ending date shown on the Form DS-2019.

Wait status 1 stays effective for one month and can optionally be extended for another month before this period expires. Wait status 2 stays active for the entire duration of the legal or arbitrational proceedings.
