Our students generally score in the 70th percentile or higher on all three sections of the GRE. Applicants with exceptional qualifications or experience and lower scores will still be considered for admission. For our master's programs, any total score over 1,000 (Sum of verbal and quantitative scores) is acceptable for review by the admissions committee. We also recommend an analytical writing score of 4.5 of higher.

There is no minimum GRE score. Our incoming students usually score above the 75th percentile in all areas.

Students have the option of retaking the GRE/MAT or pass a written essay. Students may schedule to write the essay with the Department Secretary. If the essay is not passed, a referral is made to the Gene Elrod Success Center for completion of the writing tutorial program. Upon completion, the essay is rewritten. If passed, and all other application requirements are adequate, the student is unconditionally admitted.

GRE: Varies by program. If there is a minimum score required, it would be listed in the catalog under each program's admission requirements. MAT: Only good for the master's in Counseling and doctoral in Nursing; no minimum score has been set.

Well, the higher your scores are, the better it is, obviously! A general thumb of rule is a score of 1300/1600, though those with lower scores have also gained admission. I t all depends on the university and the graduate program you are applying to. A score of 1500/1600 may be just sufficient for admission to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UCLA. Generally in the US, medical schools are bigger and more well?funded than veterinary schools.

We consider a score of 500 per section and a score of 3.5 on the Analytical Writing to be competitive, although applicants are neither accepted nor denied solely based on GRE scores.

Initially, we advise an international applicant to attach photocopies of his/her score reports with the application, but official reports issued by ETS will be required before full processing of that application will take place. In some instances, the Graduate School will accept certified copies of these reports.

A minimum 3.0 grade point average for the last 90 credits of coursework is required by the UW Graduate School. The department may request a waiver of this minimum if an applicant has exceptional qualifications or experience. The average GPA of accepted applicants is 3.48.

No minimum score has been set. Offers of admission, however, are based on merit and evaluation of the applicant's potential for academic success. Standardized test scores, therefore, are considered carefully and are an important element of the admissions process. In order to qualify for on-campus housing you must be a matriculated student. However, on-campus housing is very limited and is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

When should I apply? The deadline for fall admission is May 15, but we start admitting students early in February. Applications that are received after we have started the admission process have a reduced chance of admission because there will be fewer open positions remaining. For fall applicants, we recommend that the application be mailed no later than mid-January in order to have the best chance of admission. The answer to both questions is yes.

No minimum score is required. The admissions committee is looking for applicants who demonstrate that they can handle graduate level coursework and who will excel in the professional world of public service. Applicants can show evidence of their academic abilities through their undergraduate record, any relevant graduate level courses they've taken, and the GRE. [up]

If a student does not receive the minimum score required on the admission test, they have three (3) options: a) Take the test again. Sometimes, if the score is close and the student feels the low score was due to test anxiety or a bad testing day, this option is the easiest and most convenient. However, this is not the option to choose if the deadline for resolving provisional admission status is near. b) Take the other admissions test. Different people will do well on different tests.

The Department does not have a minimum GRE score requirement. The GRE is just one part of the overall application that is reviewed by faculty. It would not be the sole criteria for admission or denial. The faculty evaluates it as an indication of how applicants score on a "registered" exam.

Regarding the GPA, GRE and TOEFL scores, there is no rigid minimum cut-off score for admission to the program. The GRE score and the GPA are considered together along with all information in the application. However, an applicant with a combined GRE score of at least 1050 with at least 550 on the math portion would have a reasonable probability of admission as a Master's applicant, assuming that the student's other credentials were in order (1200 and 650 for Ph.D.).

We have no minimum score. On average, admitted students have a combined score of 1300 to 1400 on the verbal and quantitative sections and an average score of 4.5 to 5 on the analytical writing section. GRE scores are valid for five years after the test date.

We do not require that you attain a minimum GRE score. Part of the reason is because of our admissions ratings process, in which GRE scores are only one of five items rated. A low GRE score, in and of itself, should not dissuade you from applying. Your GRE must have been taken within five years of applying to our program.

Because of the way we use GPA data, you really cannot improve your GPA without obtaining a graduate degree, or at least accumulating a large number of graduate hours with a good graduate GPA. If you do have a large number of graduate hours (e.g. 20+ hours), make sure we become aware of your successful efforts at graduate study. Since you may not be able to increase your GPA score, you will need to increase your scores in other areas (i.e. GRE and interview).
