Optic glioma is typically a tumor of childhood. It may be associated with an inherited disorder known as neurofibromatosis I. The symptoms of optic glioma are usually related to visual loss due to compression of the optic nerve. Bulging of the eye (proptosis), double vision (ocular misalignment), and drooping of the eyelid (ptosis) may also occur.

Many patients feel a difference immediately, with loss of the aching and heaviness in their leg. When the laser procedure is combined with microphlebectomy (i.e. removing the dilated varicose veins) the leg will look flat immediately.

A study compared four different calcium alginate dressings (Algosteril, Comfeel Alginate, Kaltostat and Sorbsan) with respect to wound fluid retaining ability, adherence, dressing residues, epithelialisation and inflammatory cell infiltration using a standardised partial-thickness wound model in domestic pigs. Wound fluid spread laterally onto surrounding normal skin by about 40% more with Sorbsan than with the other alginate dressings after 24h (P = 0.026).

Bloom refers to the slow rising of "essential oils" to the surface of a cigar. It first shows up as tiny (almost microscopic) crystals on the surface, and can eventually make a cigar look slightly "dusty" with a whitish finish on the surface. Not only is it harmless, some prefer to see a little bloom, as an indication of strong taste. Mold OTOH, is (ick!) a fungus, growing on overly humidified stogies.
