NO, the auger sets in a "T" slot groove in the back of the shaft and may have slid forward just enough to come out of that slot. If you turn the Auger in a circular motion while pushing in back in you will feel it slide into that "T" slot coupler and then you will not be able to turn the auger by hand anymore.
