Admission to the Ph.D. progarm is based on an overall evaluation of applicants' scores, grades, recommendation letters, as well as potential for scholarship in our program. A general guideline for admission is a minimum score of 1200 on the combined verbal and quantitive GREs.

The department considers all components of the application. There are therefore no specific GRE or GPA minimums.

No. All applications are reviewed by at least one faculty member regardless of how low or high you score on the GRE or your GPA.

No. We view the GRE as one indicator of potential for graduate study. While we are generally looking for applicants that score above the 75th percentile in each category, over the years we have admitted students with a range of GRE scores. Thus, we neither accept nor reject applicants on the basis of their GRE scores alone.

The GRE is required ONLY if an applicant’s cumulative undergraduate GPA is less than 3.0. The required score on the GRE is 1000 or better (verbal and quantitative sections combined). All applications are reviewed. Strong candidates who do not meet grade point average criterion may be admitted on academic probation for the first 15 credit hours.

There is no minimum score. We look very closely at test scores because we have found that to some degree, successful completion of the doctoral coursework and thesis research is highly predicted by strong scores on these tests. However, this is only one of several criteria that determines acceptance into the doctoral program. We also look closely at transcripts to ensure that applicants' skills meet the demands of the program.

There is not a minimum GPA requirement. Our average for the class of 2008 was 3.4. Students who are admitted with a GPA below a 3.0 are admitted on a probationary status and must maintain a 3.0 or higher in the fall semester in order to continue with the program.

We do not have minimums required for application. But of course the higher your score, the better your chances of admission. Average GPA of admitted applicants is 3.8 (4 point scale).

Here at the University of Southern California we do a comprehensive review of all applications. We do not use a formula or have minimum test score and GPA requirements for admission to USC. In general, successful applicants have demonstrated outstanding quantitative ability and proven academic success in their intended field of study. Additionally, because our medium of instruction is English, students are expected to be able to understand and be understood in English.

We do not have minimums required for application. But of course we expect students to have earned a high GPA and GRE scores. The higher your score, the better your chances of admission.

The required minimum academic grade point average (for the final 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate work) is 3.0 on a four-point scale; normally, those admitted have a grade point average well above this minimum. GRE scores must be submitted, but there is no required minimum. Admission to our program is highly competitive. The average GPA and GRE scores of those admitted will vary slightly from year to year.

We admit applicants with a wide variety of GRE scores; there is no specific minimum required. All applications are viewed as complete packages, and strong letters of recommendation, excellent GPA from transcripts, and a focused and well-written statement of purpose can help to offset middle range GRE scores.

Applicants must take the GRE, including the writing component, but there is not a minimum score required.

The Admissions Committee views the GRE as one indicator of potential for graduate study. Applicants are neither accepted nor rejected on the basis of their GRE scores alone. Applicant profiles are constructed in such a way that no single factor is considered in isolation.

The minimum GRE score is a combined score of 2000 out of a possible 2400 (800+800+(133.33 * 6.0)=2400). Foreign students whose native language is not English are required to submit an official TOEFL examination score of 250 or 600 (depending on which test was taken) better unless they have spent at least three years at an academic institution in an English speaking country.

In general, we require a score of 90% or higher on the analytical section of the GMAT or the analytical and quantitative section of the GRE. It is very rare that an applicant with a score below 85% is accepted, unless there are very strong counter-balancing factors, such as an outstanding undergraduate academic performance, or compelling evidence of extenuating circumstances.

There is no minimum GRE score. Our incoming students usually score above the 75th percentile in all areas.

While a diverse range of applicants is accepts annually into the program, generally, applicants should minimally have a 3.0 overall GPA and 3.0 GPA in the teaching major. Applicants who do not meet this requirement are still encouraged to apply as applicants are considered based on grades, professional experiences, and outlook about teaching.

No. Many factors are considered in the admissions process. However, you will want to note our average and range of scores in our most recent class profile. We will see all of your scores but will take your higher score if you take the test twice. If you take the GMAT more than twice, we consider all scores, but don’t average them.
