What is the difference between TIFF and GeoTIFF format?
FAQsBoth TIFF and GeoTIFF formatted maps are .tif images. The only difference is GeoTIFFs have georeferencing information imbedded into the file. When you open a GeoTIFF map, it is autmatically georeferenced. You have to manually reference TIFF formatted maps (see question 14).
