Once opened, fresh and vacuum-packaged smoked fish should be consumed within seven days. The shelf life of un-opened, vacuum-packaged smoked fish varies. Vacuum-packaged salmon, for example, if kept refrigerated and un-opened, can be enjoyed up to 14 days after purchase. Smoked fish, because it is a ready-to-eat food, should not be stored with raw food products, nor should it be served or prepared along with raw products.

This is an easy question. It is too bad so many sources give bad info. Many sites tell you to wait 3 weeks until you have cycled your tank. THAT is not true. You cannot cycle a tank without fish if you are using biological filtration. There are some exceptions with reef-only systems.
