What is Impedance?
FAQ about AudioA measure of the impediment to the flow of alternating current, measured in "ohms" at a given frequency...
a - What is the impedance of my cabinet?
Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked QuestionsYour cabinet should have a model number and rating plate on the back, if there is no rating plate the cabinet will need to have the impedance measured by an engineer. We do not recommend using the cabinet until the impedance has been checked as it could damage both your amplifier and cabinet if either is used incorrectly. If your cabinet has a rating plate the impedance of the cabinet must match the impedance of the amplifier you are connecting it to.
Can I run one channel of my Crown amplifier at a different impedance than the other channel?
Amplifier Frequently Asked QuestionsYes. All dual channel Crown amplifiers can be treated as if they are two separate "mono" amplifiers (One channel completely independent of the other) For example: A Macro-Tech 1202 can function with a single eight-ohm speaker on channel one and four eight-ohm speakers (a two-ohm load) on channel two. A Com-Tech 410 can function with one or two eight-ohm speakers on one channel and the other channel switched to 70-volt operation.
g -What do you mean by impedance (Ohms)?
Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked QuestionsImpedance is the load connecting to the speaker socket on the amplifier or combo to give maximum power transference. This must match the stated impedance value on the amplifier or combo to ensure no damage can be caused to the speaker or amplifier.
What is imaginary impedance?
FAQSince an AC potential is applied to the cell, there will probably be a phase shift between the applied AC potential and the AC current response. Therefore, the impedance can be represented using a vector diagram displaying the in-phase (Z') and out-of-phase (Z") impedances, the total impedance, and the phase angle. Since complex number terminology is also used when analyzing impedance spectra, the in-phase and out-of-phase impedances are often referred to as real and imaginary impedances.
b - Which Impedance speakers do I need to work with my amplifier?
Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked QuestionsThe impedance of your cabinet should match the impedance stated on the back of your amplifier with regards to valve amplifiers these will normally have a selector or different speaker sockets for different impedances.
h -Does the handbook have the different impedance settings in it?
Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked QuestionsMost of the handbooks show where you connect the speakers and the impedance either by using a selector switch or different speaker sockets. All our handbooks are available to download from the support section on this website
How does bioelectrical impedance analysis work?
BIO|ANALOGICS Customer Support - FAQBioelectrical impedance technology measures conductivity (ohms) of the body. The method is based on the fact that the lean tissue of the body is much more conductive due to it's higher water content than that of fat tissue. A bioimpedance meter is attached to the body at the extremities (hand and foot) introducing an 800 micro-amp / 50 kilohertz signal that measures the body's impedance.
What is speaker impedance and is there any thing I should be careful of?
Aaron Hi Fi Frequently Asked QuestionsPlease note in the case of Aaron Loudspeakers speakers you will not have to worry about impedance compatibility with any reputable amplifier manufacturer. According to IEC standards a speaker manufacturer should quote Nominal Impedance as no higher than 20% below the minimum measurement obtained when testing the speaker system. The problem is the speakers impedance is not the same at different frequencies so a manufacturer should quote the Nominal Impedance as being the lowest value measured.
What are the sensitivity and impedance levels of the microphone?
Andrea Electronics Frequently Asked QuestionsThe product spec sheets have the technical details on the product. To find the spec sheets, please visit the specific product's page.
Why does the PB1 lower the impedance?
Radial BigShot PB1 Class-A power booster / buffer FAQHigh impedance circuits are much more susceptible to noise than low impedance circuits. This is why pro studios and broadcasters always employ balanced, low impedance lines between equipment. By lowering the impedance, you can also travel further with less noise.
What is the input impedance of your A/D boards?
CyberResearch - FAQSeveral of our A/D boards offer data transfer capabilities in either single or dual DMA modes. Our detailed Hardware Comparison Charts provide a convenient way for you to select the right product.
What is the A/D input impedance?
Holtek Semiconductor - Cost-Effective A/D Type MCU SeriesWhen A/D is not activated, the SS (sampling switch) is open. When A/D is activated the SS is closed. The A/D conversion time can be further divided into two phases; the first is sampling time which needs 32 tAD,; the second is conversion time which needs 44 tAD. A total of 76tAD is needed. The tAD A/D clock period will be detailed in the datasheet.
What is considered low impedance?
ZEROs FAQEven 8-ohm loads are not optimal. Half of the ZEROs owners used them to increase the impedance of their 8-ohm speakers. Multiplying the reported best sounding ZEROs multiplication factor times the original speaker's impedance, and then averaging the results, I found the average reported optimal impedance to be 14.6-ohms. Speakers rated 8 ohms and lower typically produce benefits.
How can I get the output impedance of a trace?
Pericom - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - By Product Fam...The trace impedance can be controlled by the PCB layout design and the PCB manufacturer. Please refer to Application Note 32 for the calculation details. If the impedance of the trace is higher than the sum of the impedance of the driver and the series termination resistor, overshoot and undershoot will be seen at the input of the receiver on the end of the trace.
Where can I get the output impedance of a Logic driver?
Pericom - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - By Product Fam...There are two approaches to obtain the output impedance of a Logic driver: Extract the R-on from the V-I data in the IBIS model (available on the web), which is preferred because it is faster and easier; Or register/login to the website to obtain technical assistance.
How is ground impedance determined?
THOR SYSTEMS, INC.the service entrance, the fall of potential method is typically used by establishing either a two-point, three-point or four-point reference. These test methods require the use of specialized ground impedance test equipment that uses injection and reference electrodes to determine the ground impedance. Within the facility, clamp-on ground impedance instruments can be used. Clamp-on instruments can also be used to determine ground leakage currents.
What does impedance measure?
Technical HifiStated in ohms, impedance measures the resistance of a device to an Alternating Current (AC). Put simply, it measures how easily a device will conduct a current.
What is an Impedance Matching volume control?
Phoenix Gold :: Support :: Frequently Asked QuestionsWhen connecting a number of speakers in parallel in a typical multi-zone system, the resulting impedance (ohms) will often be below the minimum that a receiver or amplifier can tolerate. Impedance-matching controls compensate by increasing the speaker system impedance to a level that is acceptable for the amplifier.
f -Can I still buy the old style impedance selector for my amplifier?
Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked QuestionsUnfortunately the old style selectors are no longer available. We recommend having it replaced with the new rotary selector. All work of this nature must be carried out by a qualified engineer
