If you choose to work 8 or 10 hour shifts, forty hours a week is considered full time. However, if you would like to work 12 hour shifts, full time is 36 hours per week.

You have several options: If you want your vehicle so that you can explore your new surroundings and go sightseeing on your days off, you can drive it to your travel nursing assignment, or you can have it transported there. If, however, you accept an assignment in a major city that has ample public transportation, but scarce, expensive parking, you can opt to leave your car behind and travel there by some other means.

You will need one year of current experience at an acute care facility in the specialty area desired for your future travel assignment before you can travel with Advantage RN.

The pay rates depend on the hospital you choose, the State in which the hospital is located and your personal housing requirements. If you work in California, DAILY OVERTIME will be paid per California State law. The twelve hour shifts range from $665.00 per shift to $364.00 per twelve hour shift. For example, the pay rate for a $665.00 twelve hour shift is $47.50 per hour for the first eight hours and overtime (x 1.5) for the next four hours of the twelve hour shift or $71.25 per hour.

Some hospitals will take a Medical Surgical Nurse that has one year (out of the last two years) recent experience but most hospitals require all Nurses to have a minimum of two years recent experience in their specialty.

You must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare professional program in the United States or Canada and have at least 12 consecutive months of recent experience in your specialty. For some high-need specialties, you can begin traveling after gaining eight months of experience.

Some travel nurses start their first assignment within two weeks of submitting their application, while others plan their assignments several months down the road. How quickly you can get started depends on whether your documentation is in order and licensure is current for the state where you want to practice. We will work with you to help you get all your credential requirements organized in time for your assignment start date.

So, once you decide you want a permanent posting, there will be no need to explain what travel nursing is all about. Instead, many of the qualities most employers look for will already be demonstrated on your resume.

Nurses who hold up-to-date licenses qualify to work as travel nurses. While placements are available for LPNs, RNs, and nurse practitioners, the most opportunities exist for RNs. Travel nurses find their placements through specialized agencies, which generally require at least one year of recent critical-care experience and solid work references. Key to getting the travel nurse placement you want is having several certifications and solid experience in different practice areas.
