Click on the Grade Tasks tab, the Grade Tasks button on your child’s Scorecard or the Grade button in the Task Charts

You can enter letter grades for scores for any assignment. The letter grade you enter will immediately be converted to a numeric score. The percent for the letter grade you entered is averaged with the percent for the next higher letter grade. That percent is multiplied by the points possible on the assignment to determine the score.

All Vanderbilt students are governed by the Honor System of Vanderbilt University. The Faculty Guide to the Honor System offers useful information, including Honor Council procedures, faculty responsibilities and a sample statement for use in syllabi. The "Honor System" section of the faculty manual (downloads as a PDF) also addresses this issue and makes it clear that instructors should neither punish nor excuse Honor Code violations themselves.

Rubrics are used to measure student learning for scoring and grading. Rubrics are systematic scoring methods that use pre-determined criteria. Rubrics help instructors assess student work more objectively and consistently. There are two types of rubrics: holistic and analytical. In a holistic rubric, the entire performance is evaluated and scored as a whole (example). In an analytic rubric, the performance is evaluated and scored on several distinct criteria (example).

Grades earned for credit courses taken as a Non-Degree student are included in grade-point average calculations. An official UW transcript is established when the first credit course is taken, and all future credit course activity is recorded on this permanent record of academic work at the UW. You may not gain weight, but your body will most likely take several days to get back into fat burning mode. Go back to eating only legal foods immediately and drink extra water to flush the carbohydrates from your system.

A student who gets an A is not eligible to repeat a course. A student who receives a B or C can retake the course only once. The two grades will be averaged to determine the student's final course grade. A student who receives a D or F can repeat the course as many times as necessary until a grade of C or better is earned. Report the grade online using the course Grade Roll Discrepancy (AS-181) form on VIP. Grade Roll Discrepancy forms can be completed on the web when you submit final grades. A printed copy of the form is also available at http://registrar.sc.edu/html/forms/forms.stm. (Note: Contact your Department Administrative Assistant for the password to the secured forms page).

In my mind, essay grades start at 50 for a turned-in on-time assignment and earn points as I read. For course investment, however, everyone starts at 100 and loses points (down to zero, if necessary) for missed classes and inadequate participation, or other elements of course investment.

Yes. If a student contests a final grade, he or she has 30 calendar days to submit a written appeal to the instructor. The letter of appeal should be accompanied by all course materials to be considered. The instructor will render his or her decision in writing within 10 working days, or as soon thereafter as is practical.

Final grades are communicated to students via their Internet Academy issued FirstClass? e-mail accounts. "Transcripts" and/or Internet Academy "Course Reports" are mailed home at the end of the school year.

Students must maintain a 2.7 GPA. Students are also expected to earn a “C” or better in all professional program courses as well as meet specific program GPA standards.

A grade of I may be given to a student who has completed the majority of requirements for the course but because of extenuating circumstances may be unable to complete all stated requirements of the course.

IF is received if a student does not attend class and does not officially withdraw from a class by the deadline listed in the Academic Calendar. A grade of IF is computed as an F in the student?s GPA.

Submit the grade on the Grade Roll Discrepancy form (AS-181) on VIP. In the 'Grades Assigned' section, put the grade which is to replace the 'NR' or you can send a memo on department letterhead with the course number, section number, student name and social security number and grade.

You should assign a 'NR' (no report). If the student does not take steps to withdraw from that course, the 'NR' will convert to an 'F' after one major semester. As the instructor, you may assign an 'F' for non-attendance. This decision is yours.
