Every accessible door and operable window should be protected. All glass windows should be protected with some sort of shock/audio detector. Windows can also be protected using alarm screens instead of contacts and shock/audio detectors. Obviously in a three story residence, the windows on the third floor cannot be opened by normal means; screens, vibration sensors or audio detectors should be sufficient if the windows are kept locked.

The BIX-02 model is a simple lock to fit on most doors. It is an ideal replacement for most knob locks. The lock comes with a template and instructions on DIY installation! We recommend you contact a locksmith to fit the BIX-03 model. A list of recommended locksmiths can be provided on request

These locks will fit some storm doors and not others. If the storm door has a handle that is like a typical non-storm door with a regular lockset then these locks will work. However, if the storm door has a light weight aluminum handle latch these will not work.

When installing our deadbolts you want to make sure that your door is somewhere in between 1-3/4in and 2-1/4in in thickness. If your door is not in that range please call customer service. When installing our standard doorsets you want to make sure that your door is somewhere between 1-3/8in and 1-3/4in Note that extended spindles are required on passage locks that will be used on thicker exterior doors. These are offered by special request only.

To achieve a single access door you would require an odd number of panels to stack in one direction i.e. 3, 5 or 7, etc or to split the stacking to both sides in order to achieve an odd number configuration to at least on side, i.e. 2:1, 5:1, 5:3 etc. To achieve a French door opening, you would require an odd number configuration to both sides, i.e. 1:3, 3:3, 7:3, etc.
