The original Co Pilot (CPD4) does not support CCPM. It has 2 cables in and 2 servo outputs only. The new FS8 Co Pilot was designed to handle all R/C configurations. Technical support has determined that some brands and models of digital servos do operate without problem, however there are no guarantees. There is a special pilot licence that is required for airships. In the USA the airship pilot rating was recently split into VFR (visual flight rules) and IFR (instrument flight rules) since modern airships are now able to fly under instrument flight conditions, i.e. at night or in the clouds. The current prototype cannot hover. Since our concept involves the rotor being in autorotation for cruise flight, there was no need to make the prototype a helicopter. It is part autogyro/part airplane. However, an autogyro can still takeoff and land vertically, provided it has a prerotator, a high inertia rotor and a collective control for the rotor, which the CarterCopter has. Often times the battery is used to help get the CG (center of gravity) of the helicopter under the main shaft. So in this case the size/weight of the battery is choosen to balance the helicopter. On the Raptor 30/50 a 1700mah 'A' size 4 cell pack works great.
